The opportunity at Flexport:

Flexport is looking for a dynamic Global Head of Procurement & Trade Management in Singapore. This role combines strategic procurement leadership with trade management expertise to boost growth and innovation in ocean freight operations.

You will:

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies for global trade lanes.
  • Foster strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders for growth initiatives.
  • Create partnerships with global and regional Ocean Freight Carriers.
  • Secure additional ocean freight capacity on major trade lanes.

Network Development:

  • Work closely with Ocean and sales leadership to define joint growth plans and strategies.
  • Find creative solutions in challenging market conditions.
  • Understand each ocean carrier's strategy for win-win opportunities.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to drive success and growth strategies.

Customer Engagement & Advocacy:

  • Engage with customers as a Flexport expert, providing leads and introductions.
  • Sponsor select customers and host webinars about ocean freight.
  • Promote Flexport's Value Proposition and Brand Promise.

You should have:

  • Deep understanding of the ocean freight industry.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills.
  • Strong negotiation and networking abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in trade management and procurement, focusing on ocean freight.
  • Tech-savvy with the ability to leverage technology for innovation.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of logistics experience.
  • Established network within industry leaders.
  • Ability to challenge the status quo to drive improvement.
  • 'Compliance first' attitude for regulatory requirements.
