The Role:


The lead analyst will be responsible for managing a portfolio of South and South East Asia (SSEA)-based issuers rated by Moody's.

The role involves conducting high quality quantitative and qualitative analysis to assess the credit quality of a range of entities and debt instruments, including rated projects and corporates in the infrastructure and power/utilities sectors within SSEA.

The individual will demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the operating environment and sectors, and conduct ongoing monitoring to support rating accuracy.

The individual will manage both internal and external relationships, including at senior levels, and write comprehensive, insightful, and thought-provoking research on individual companies, projects, and broader sectoral themes, including ESG-related aspects.

The role requires frequent interaction with investors, intermediaries, and issuers, and managing assigned relationships, hence an ability to confidently interact with external parties is a prerequisite.

The analyst's activities will also include outreach initiatives on a broader regional basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs analysis of credits and recommend ratings for new credits, or changes to ratings for existing credits. Usually focused on the less complex or lower profile and/or nonfranchise credits of the team portfolio with limited supervision.
  • Authors research on issuer issues or transactions, pertinent credit events and sector trends, mainly focused in issuer portfolio, and contributes to industry and/or other analysts research.
  • Has select interaction with the media, mainly on own issuer portfolio, or credits rated or monitored by them, often under supervision of more senior colleagues.
  • Investor outreach mainly focuses on issuer portfolio.
  • Participates in or leads simple/ad hoc team projects
  • Actively mentors associate analysts
  • Leads issuer meetings including onsite visits and communicates professionally with investors and bankers with limited supervision.
  • Responds to investor calls and queries.
  • May participate in investor meetings arranged by more senior colleagues.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate / second level degree (e.g., MBA, Master's) or strong equivalent academic background in relevant areas.
  • Two to five years relevant experience that provides a good understanding of financial markets and business environment.
  • Welldeveloped analytical skills with the ability to collate information into reasoned arguments.
  • Strong written and oral communication capabilities
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities within deadlines.
  • Strong abilities in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
