Job Description:

PURPOSE

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Commercial Analyst will be tasked to assist the Commercial Department, as a key support of day-to-day decision making and long-term planning in the Auction Sales business.

The Commercial Analyst is responsible for:

• Delivery of research, analysis and valuation work required to present up-to-date business market intelligence such as segmented supply-demand trends to inform and recommend key commercial decisions around purchasing, sales mix, channels, locations and pricing. Seniority of key stakeholders the analyst will interact with range from peer-analysts to Senior Vice President level
• Delivery of Pricing Decision outcomes for Group Pricing Committee on a cyclical basis
• Supporting the publication of key internal reports for Cycle Planning, Reporting and Analysis, as well as key external reports for Financial and Business performance updates
• Consolidation and analysis of Auctions performance, including customer participation and bid data
• Preparation of fitforpurpose and userfriendly dashboards to summarize the outcomes of analyses for decisionmaking forums

Leading and participating in projects as required to improve the performance of the business.

Diamond Trading Pricing & Development in London (UK), Diamond Trading Supply & Demand Team and the Senior Vice President - Product in Gaborone (Botswana)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / ACTIVITIES
Delivery

• Delivery of research, numerate analyses and valuation work in relation to Sales Performance to better inform and influence decisions around how De Beers goods are sold at Auctions
• Ensure timely and accurate circulation of Sales Performance Reports and Commercial Dashboards in PowerBI for key stakeholders such as Sales and Production to review and utilize for key decisionmaking forums like Demand Forecasting, Buy Decisions and Pricing committees. Provide and present recommendations on key commercial decisions around purchasing, sales mix, channels, locations in said forums
• Responsibility for 100% ontime delivery of Pricing Decision outcomes for Pricing Committees in time for Auction setup
• Technical execution of Commercial analysis and its associated generation of related data tables and its ingestion into the data warehouse
• To learn, test and prototype data visualization outputs with stakeholders with a gradual transition to a businessasusual rollout of Dashboards to be consumed on a regular basis (e.g. Development of Auction Monitoring Dashboard on PowerBI)
• Lead and deliver both longterm and adhoc projects to improve business performance.

Strategy

• Formulate appropriate Opening Price strategies for the various categories of goods offered at Auctions, based on historical bid curves and empirical sales evidence on a cycletocycle basis.
• Drive Channel Optimization to maximize value achieved at Auctions and thereafter at a Group level. Enable crosssharing of learnings and performance to Group stakeholders as feedback, and distil insights from Group back to Auctions as the culmination of a feedback loop.
• Assume responsibility of the creation of a pricing model for thirdparty rough diamond purchases with the express aim of improving assortment, value creation and ultimately higher achieved prices/margins for the resultant blended goods.
• Ensure active representation of Commercial team to the larger De Beers midstream community and beyond through sharing of ongoing initiatives and identifying crossdepartmental collaboration opportunities to enhance value creation and synergy.

Sandbox Creation, Data Exploration and Testing of Hypotheses

• Test and triangulate market data and resolve contradictions including through formulating hypotheses for the inmarket teams and/or market research instruments to test.
