**About the position

The Senior Public Affairs Officer (Media and Events, under the direction of the DFAT First Secretary) supports the design and implementation of the High Commission's public diplomacy strategy through event management and across a range of traditional and new media platforms and events, advises on real-time media issues and helps promote Australia's interests in Singapore by maintaining relationships with some of our priority stakeholders, including media, government bodies, corporate partners, and other organisations.

The key responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Support and contribute to the development and implementation of the annual public diplomacy communications strategy.
  • Provide internal and external strategic advice on the implementation of the media and social media program elements of the High Commission's public diplomacy strategy, and ensure programs achieve desired outcomes with appropriate evaluation and reporting at post and with Canberra.
  • Plan, conceptualise and implement various Australian High Commission public diplomacy events (forums, showcases, exhibitions, and others) including contingency planning, under the High Commission's public diplomacy strategy across all facets of the relationship, including arts and culture, sports, science, innovation and business, and people to people links.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Demonstrated prior experience and success in communications/media and event role/s in government and/or nongovernment organisations and/or the private sector.
  • A sound understanding of Australia and Singapore demonstrated through previous roles in government and / or the private sector.
  • Understanding of Australian Government priorities.
  • Experience in event management.
  • Experience in design/Canva
