Roles & Responsibilities

Role Purpose

Applies Project Knowledge, Engineering Expertise, and extensive experience to autonomously oversee the engineering and design of FPSO Topsides facilities. Resolves interface issues among various engineering disciplines, supports fabrication, installation, commissioning, and start-up of facilities, and handles equipment/utilities interface related to the topsides modules.

Key Accountabilities
  • Deliver FPSO Topsides engineering within budget, schedule, and quality standards.
  • Ensure consistent engineering design across all Topside Modules and different detailed Engineering Sub-contractors.
  • Establish robust Engineering and Design Systems for delivery of Detailed Engineering that meets all contractual requirements.
  • Implement engineering change management for topside engineering post design freeze in all disciplines, ensuring effective communication, tracking, and approval by relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, Client standards, Class Society rules, regulatory requirements, codes and standards, and company code of conduct.
  • Conduct engineering meetings internally, with sub-contractors, Client, and external agencies, and prepare minutes of meetings.
  • Prepare Topside Engineering progress reports.
  • Motivate the Topside Engineering team and subcontractors to excel, provide performance feedback, forecast, and manage engineering resources efficiently.
  • Develop topside engineering manning plan, engineering software budget, third-party study budget, and approve topsides engineering related variation orders from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Lead in forecasting and mobilizing engineering and design resources for the Topside Engineering Team.
  • Lead in devising solutions for complex topside problems, capable of interacting with Clients on problem-solving.
  • Ensure integration of Safety and quality requirements in the design for safe operability and maintainability. Act as the topsides engineering representative for quality issues or NCRs raised during systems audits.
  • Ensure timely conduct and closure of all applicable engineering reviews for topside projects.
  • Make timely engineering decisions based on sound practices and project objectives, resolving challenges with multiple valid solutions.
  • Be well-versed in all engineering disciplines in Topside Engineering, providing leadership to resolve disputes among stakeholders.
  • Lead Topsides Engineering Risk Assessment and ensure closeout of related actions.
  • Implement lessons learned from past projects for Topsides Engineering and ensure closure of related actions.
  • Manage one or more Topside Detailed Engineering Subcontractors on the project, overseeing their cost, quality, and schedule performance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 15 years' experience in onshore/offshore Oil and Gas or FPSO fields.
  • Thorough knowledge of interfaces between Topside and Marine Engineering, FPSO facilities/systems, and various engineering disciplines.
  • Familiarity with design codes, regulatory requirements, and EPCI projects.
  • Proficiency in using Software and Database systems related to Engineering Functions.
  • Knowledge of competing and alternative technologies in the field.
  • Understanding of total project life cycle cost, benefits, and implications during FEED and EPCI project phases.
  • Ability to organize meetings and collaborate with class and client teams to resolve issues.
  • Skilled in performance assessment of Topsides Engineering Coordinators and Lead Engineers.
