Position Overview:

The Sushi Chef will oversee the preparation of high-quality sushi dishes in a fine dining 85 seat fine dining modern Japanese restaurant, manage and train kitchen staff, ensure compliance with food safety regulations, and provide exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare a wide variety of sushi dishes to meet customer demands
  • Manage and train sushi kitchen staff and other kitchen staff, including scheduling and assigning tasks
  • Ensure the correct preparation, presentation and delivery of sushi dishes, and check them for quality
  • Maintain inventory and control food waste to ensure profitability
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen
  • Provide exceptional customer service, maintaining a positive relationship with customers and their requests
  • Assist in maintaining in-house and online menus, making changes as necessary
  • Continuously develop and refine sushi and other menu offerings to meet customer and business needs

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, associate degree, or equivalent education
  • Proven experience as a sushi chef or a similar role in a reputable kitchen
  • Knowledge of sushi-making techniques and the use of traditional Japanese tools
  • Familiarity with food safety regulations and procedures for kitchen sanitation
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
