About Venture Building (New Ventures)

EDB New Ventures is the venture building arm of EDB.

Our aim is to support the creation and scaling of high potential new ventures from Singapore to become globally leading businesses.

To do so, we are spearheading novel ways of partnering companies for their corporate venturing journeys and established global founders as they build their next ventures from Singapore.

This includes embarking on joint venture building sprints alongside partner corporates / global founders, co-investment with corporates to risk-share early-stage growth of their ventures and active portfolio value creation support to scale each venture.

In actively working with companies on corporate venturing - we embark on joint venture building sprints alongside strategic corporate partners, co-investing with them to risk-share early-stage growth of their ventures and active portfolio value creation to scale each venture.


We are looking for an experienced venture builder at Senior Manager/Assistant Vice President seniority level to drive the engagement of companies and founders, deploy into venture projects, as well as launch initiatives to level up the venturing ecosystem in Singapore.

[What you will be working on]

Venture Building

  • Source and evaluate venture building projects, working with founders, companies and venture studio partners to build high impact ventures.
  • Lead meetings with companies and guide team members in developing the engagement strategy and preparing pre and post meeting materials.
  • In partnership with founders, companies and venture studio partners to go into 34 month deployments to build ventures:
  • Customer insighting via primary research (interviews, surveys, etc.) and secondary market research for quantitative and qualitative research about the venture opportunity area(s), including related key trends, competitors, market needs, technical feasibility and commercial viability, that would help to strategically frame and guide the concept forward.
  • Brainstorm, develop and test venture crafting of innovative and viable value propositions for potential business concepts offering new products, services and business models; experienced individuals are also expected to go deep on certain aspects of a venture, e.g. GTM, product strategy, partnership development, etc.
  • Formulate business plan comprising business and financial model, gotomarket strategy, product concept and key resources / next steps required to set up a new venture.
  • Facilitate high impact connections via EDB's networks for insights, business partnerships, and other valueadded opportunities.
Programme Development

[What we are looking for]

To meet the challenges of this role, you must have:

  • A strong interest and passion in venture creation and creating systems-level impact.
  • At least 610 years of relevant working experience, preferably in the venture building ecosystem (e.g. venture studio, accelerators, corporate incubation, design studios), especially undertaking key role(s) in startups and/or venture building with companies.
  • Exposure to emergent new technologies will be ideal, in areas such as AI, cybersecurity and climate tech.
  • Experience in developing a portfolio of ventures, as well as corporatewide / ecosystemlevel initiatives will be advantageous.
  • Strong analytical ability that can be applied in designing of systemslevel programmes, research and understanding of opportunity areas, distillation of qualitative and quantitative data into insights, development and assessment of venture opportunities.
  • Practitioners of Agile, lean and usercentered design methodologies / market research analysis is a plus.
  • Possess the following skill sets and attributes:
o Positive, can-do attitude

o Adaptable, receptive to ambiguity and change

o Confident with high level of resourcefulness to drive new initiatives and projects and achieve results

o Strong organisational, time management and multi-tasking skills

o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

o Independent but a strong team player

  • Mandarin language proficiency and comfort operating with Chinese startups and founders not a must, but will be a strong bonus.
