Roles & Responsibilities

About the Role: The Head of Production will be responsible for overseeing the entire production lifecycle of biopharma conferences, ensuring the delivery of market-leading events across multiple portfolios. This senior role requires strategic leadership, operational efficiency, and a strong focus on commercial success. The individual will lead a team of conference producers and collaborate with marketing, sales, and sponsorship teams to align production with business goals.


Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership & Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of Senior and Junior Conference Producers, ensuring high-performance standards and successful event delivery.

• Strategic Direction: Set the strategic vision for the production team, aligning event themes with emerging trends in the biopharma and life sciences sectors.

• Market Research & Trend Analysis: Drive market research initiatives to identify new conference opportunities and validate novel ideas that meet industry demand.

• Content & Program Development: Oversee the creation of high-quality conference agendas, working with producers to curate content and secure leading industry speakers as well as drafting commercial agenda to drive Delegate revenue

• P&L Management: Own the financial performance of the production unit, ensuring revenue generation, cost control, and profit targets are met or exceeded.

• Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including thought leaders, sponsors, and partners, to drive event success.

• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with the marketing, sales, and operations teams to ensure conference production aligns with commercial and strategic goals.

• Innovation & Process Improvement: Implement innovative event production processes and tools to enhance efficiency and attendee experience. Key Skillsets & Competencies:

• Leadership & People Management: Proven experience leading and developing a production team within the conference industry.

• Commercial Acumen: Strong financial management skills, with the ability to manage P&L, budgets, and drive profitability.

• Event Production Expertise: Deep understanding of event production, content curation, and speaker engagement in the biopharma sector.

• Market Research & Analytical Skills: Ability to identify market trends, validate conference ideas, and ensure program relevance to the target audience.

• Strategic Thinking: Capable of setting long-term goals, aligning production efforts with business strategy, and driving innovation.

• Communication & Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal skills to work cross-functionally and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.

• Project Management: Strong organizational and project management abilities, overseeing multiple events simultaneously and ensuring deadlines are met.

• Adaptability: Ability to manage in a fast-paced, evolving environment with shifting priorities and emerging industry trends.


Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, business, or a related field.

• 5+ years of experience in conference production ideally within the biopharma or life sciences industries.

• Proven track record of managing a production team and delivering commercially successful events.

• Strong understanding of the biopharma sector, including industry regulations, emerging trends, and key players.
