Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine(LKCMedicine) established in September 2010 is a partnershipbetween Imperial College London and Nanyang TechnologicalUniversity, Singapore. The School operates from two campuses -Yunnan Campus at Nanyang Technological University and a new campusto be built at Novena. Our primary healthcare partner is theNational Healthcare Group (NHG) which comprises an integratednetwork of primary healthcare polyclinics, acute care hospitalssuch as Tan Tock Seng Hospital, and national specialist centres.LKCMedicine delivers a new five-year undergraduate medicalprogramme leading to a joint MBBS degree awarded by ImperialCollege London and Nanyang TechnologicalUniversity.

Our research focuses on using thelatest genetics and genomics technologies to understandneurological diseases, especially Parkinson's disease. We are alsointerested in the functional follow-up of genetics findings inhuman pluripotent stem-cell based models. For more information,please visit:

Weare looking to recruit a research fellow with a strong backgroundand interest in human disease genetics and/or neuroscience, withstrong inclination for a career in academia or industry. Thisindividual is expected to:
  • Lead keyprojects in the laboratory involving in vitro modelling of humanneurological diseases using human pluripotent stemcells.
  • Perform experiments on cell culture,molecular cloning, gene editing, immunostaining, confocalmicroscopy etc
  • Oversee statistical andbioinformatics analyses of genomics and transcriptomicsdata
  • Work closely with researchassistants/associates, students and collaborators to evaluate,troubleshoot and optimize experimentalprotocols
  • Maintain frequent contact andcommunication with collaborators
  • Keep up todate with latest research in the field of genetics andneuroscience
  • Participate actively indiscussions, writing manuscripts and grantapplications.


Ourlaboratory is based at Clinical Sciences Building in theLKCMedicine Novena campus.

Background andqualifications:
  • A PhD degree inBiomedical Sciences (preferably related to the field of genetics,stem cell/developmental biology and/or neuroscience) from aninternationally renowned university.
  • Priorresearch experience in molecular biology, cell biology,neuroscience, single-cell genomics/transcriptomics, or statisticsand bioinformatics
  • Prior experience inCRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, molecular cloning and stem cell researchwill be an advantage.
  • Some knowledge in coding(perl, C/C++, java, python, R etc) will also be anadvantage
  • Self-motivated, independent andwell-organized, with excellent technical and communicationskills
  • First-authored publications in reputablebiomedical journals will be a majoradvantage.
