We areseeking for an Assistant Manager / Senior Assistant Manager to joinour team. The successful candidate will play key roles in studentsupport & counselling, academic support & operations,student well-being & personal development, crisis management& emergency response, communication &advocacy.

The candidate will also provideessential services between the school, NTU's University WellbeingOffice's (UWO) satellite counsellor and other care needs.

The key responsibilities include:

Student Support &Counseling
  • Assist studentsin navigating life challenges, providing counselling and connectingthem to needed resources
  • Work withUndergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) student clubs to developand deliver workshops or training sessions on topics of interest tostudent body, such as stress management, resilience, timemanagement, and conflictresolution.


AcademicSupport &Operations
  • Assist withstudent advising and counselling as part of academic operations,providing support in navigating academic challenges (e.g. courseselection, academic performance, and time management), andsupporting students at risk of academicprobation.
  • Lead regular outreach to facultymembers to identify students who may require additional support anddevelop tailored plans for academicsuccess.
  • Work with the Academic team toidentify interpersonal internship readiness skills training orexposure. Assist in providing and/or organising neededworkshops.
  • Assist students during theProfessional Internship period and provide guidance and support tostudents navigating their internships, ensuring that they meet bothacademic and professional expectations.
  • Overseeapplication for Leave of Absence (LOA) and withdrawals,streamlining the process by reviewing cases and ensuring allnecessary follow-up actions are taken, including academiccounseling, emotional support, and guidance through the applicationprocess.


Well-being& PersonalDevelopment
  • Promote studentwell-being through developing outreach initiatives that supportmental, emotional, and physicalhealth.
  • Collaborate with the campus healthservices, wellness programs, and student organisations to promote abalanced lifestyle.
  • Organise and lead studentengagement events, programs, or activities that foster a sense ofcommunity and belonging among students with support from Events& Communications Team. This includes the UG and PG studentclubs (Graduate Student Club & The Students' Communication andInformation Club) and relevant ad hoc committees (Paparazzi, WeeVoand WeeCan initiatives).
  • Identify and initiateoutreach to students on semester-long exchange or overseasinternship to ensure well-being while overseas and to facilitatethe academic and interpersonal transition back to schoolenvironment.


CrisisManagement & EmergencyResponse
  • Serve as a point ofcontact during student crises (e.g., medical emergencies, personalloss, mental health concerns).
  • Provideimmediate support, coordinate with external agencies (e.g.,counselors, social workers), and ensure students are directed tothe appropriate care.
  • Maintain a confidentialand empathetic approach to sensitive studentmatters.


Communication& Advocacy
  • Be a keyadvocate for students, representing their needs and concerns tofaculty, staff, and administration.
  • Liaise asappropriate with student's designated Next of Kin, managingrelationships between all impactedparties.


DataManagement &Reporting
  • Maintain detailedrecords of student interactions, progress, and support providedwhile adhering to confidentialitystandards.
  • Analyse student feedback, surveys,and case data to assess the effectiveness of student care programsand services.
  • Prepare reports for seniormanagement on the health and well-being of the student body,identifying trends and areas forimprovement.


Collaborationwith CampusDepartments
  • Collaborate withUWO and their satellite counselor, other academic departments,student affairs, career services, housing, and other universityunits to ensure a coordinated and holistic approach to studentcare.
  • Participate in regular meetings withcross-functional teams to discuss student concerns, welfareinitiatives, and institutional supportstrategies.
  • Work with the Assistant ChairStudent Life to communicate and assist the student body to manageany changes in school, college or university levelpolicies.
  • Identify potential impact onschool-level policies that arise from other department initiativesor requirements, alert impacted school administrators, and whereappropriate, assist with developing and implementing needed changeswithin theschool.


Training& Development
  • Overseethe Freshmen Orientation Programme peer support training for GroupLeaders, expanding the program to engage Group Leaders and theirmentees throughout the first year atWKWSCI.
  • Provide training for faculty, staff,and student leaders on recognising signs of distress or emotionaldifficulties among students.
  • Support the PGprograms and directors in pedagogical training for PG students,developing and running workshops for PhD candidates on in-class andstudent management, and/or provide support for the MA programs onprofessional skills development.
  • Stay updatedon best practices in student care and support, attendingprofessional development opportunities asappropriate.


The keyrequirements include:
  • Minimum 5 yearsof work experience in counselling support or outreach, training,and coordinating across multiple units to provide support servicesto individuals.
  • Strong counselling andwell-being outreach skills.
  • Knowledge of thedifferent and diverse developmental and social needs between UG andPG students.
  • Good communication and writingskills, able to interact well withstakeholders.
  • Strong organisational andtime-management skills, able to plan and prioritise schedule andwork which may have competingdeadlines.
  • Proactive problem solver, adaptableto dynamic environments
  • Ability to evaluateexisting work processes, identify inefficiencies and develop areasfor improvement.
  • Knowledgeable ofconfidentiality rules around student care and able to manageconfidential information and records.
  • Empathytowards young adults and the unique challenges present in thisstage of life.
  • Passion for providing support tofaculty and students, with a strong servicefocus
  • Self-directed and motivated team player.Able to both work independently with minimal supervision andcollaborate with colleagues in a team-orientedenvironment.
  • Good sense of initiative andresponsibility with a positive workattitude
