Roles & Responsibilities

Primary Objectives of Position

  • Manage and maintain the NEL HV, LV and DC Traction System so as to ensure that the safety, reliability and availability of such services meet all regulatory requirements for MRT operation

Major Responsibilities

  • Equipment failure analysis and system enhancement
  • Manage and implement modification and project work
  • Assist and liaise with external agencies working on NEL MRT premises
  • Review operational and maintenance manuals and to formulate maintenance policies and procedure
  • Develop and upkeep preventive and corrective maintenance principles and standards
  • Establish and maintain NEL Power training manuals and ensuring staff and outsourced contractor competency and standards
  • Evaluate and formulate comprehensive testing and commissioning of NEL power system equipment
  • Develop department targets on availability and reliability of equipment
  • Responsible for the procurement, upkeep and delivery of special tools, test instruments and test rigs
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained and renewed when necessary, so as to retain its value at the end of the franchise period
  • Examine options for maintenance contract as well as supply of spares
  • Develop and maintain Work Instructions in accordance with approved documented procedures
  • Responsible for the management of staff including participation in the selection, discipline and performance review processes
  • Responsible for the formulation of asset management plans, preparation of associated budgets and asset performance
  • Undertake tasks and projects as assigned by Supervisor

Specific Safety Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining the technical standard for Electrical Power Distribution equipment so as to ensure the highest level of operational safety for the MRT system
  • To enforce Departmental Works Instruction system and all Rail related safety rules and procedures
  • Responsible for the safety of departmental staff, related contractors and others working on the Electrical Power Distribution system in the NEL MRT premises

Job Specifications

  • Degree/Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering
  • Preferably with at least 5 years of working experience in both HV and LV environment, preferably in a rail transportation industry
  • Electrical Power System background.
  • Preferably Licensed Electrical Worker (Technician Grade)
  • Strong interpersonal skill.
  • Possess strong technical skills
  • Strong people, planning and organizing skills.
  • Resourceful, self-motivated and result oriented.
