As a counsellorin NTU, you will play a crucial role to enable NTU to fulfil itsmission for student wellbeing and support. As a team member of theUniversity Counselling Centre, you will provide counselling forundergraduate and graduate students and engage with variousinternal and external stakeholders to promote a NTU campuscommunity approach to mentalhealth.

Responsibilities:

Counsellingand case management andconsultation
  • Provide professionalcounselling services to NTU undergraduate and graduatestudents.
  • Provide consultation to staff, familymembers, and peers on concerns they have regarding a student andprovide case management support, especially for studentsat-risk.
  • Document and maintain proper clinicalrecords in accordance with policies and procedures of theUniversity CounsellingCentre.


Psychologicalcritical incident management
  • Provideconsultation and psychological critical incident management tosuicidal or severely distressed students and staff, and whereneeded, in getting immediate treatment for such students/staffthrough working closely with various stakeholders (e.g. Support andCare Team, Associate/Assistant Chairs and Student Care Managers ofSchools, Faculty-in-Residence, Campus Security, Office of HumanResource, NIE Wellness Centre,etc.).


Community approachto case management
  • Workcollaboratively with and make recommendations to schools, studentservice offices, Halls of Residence, etc. to facilitate a campuscommunity approach towards managing students with complex/severemental health issues.
  • Work ininter-disciplinary teams (e.g. Educational/Clinical/ CounsellingPsychologist, Counsellor) to provide evidence-basedpsychotherapeutic interventions/treatment to students withcomplex/severe mental health issues and/or co-morbid issues (e.g.Special Education Needs and mental healthissues).
  • Liaise with other professionals (e.g.psychiatrists, doctors) and Social Service Agencies to mobilisecommunity resources to provide care and support for thestudents.
  • Refer and/or recommend externalservice interventions (e.g. family therapy) as part of thestudent's overall treatment plan.
  • Conducttraining on a range of mental health issues and evidence-basedintervention strategies forstaff.


Strategic supportin University Counselling Centre (UCC)/University Wellbeing Office(UWO)
  • Evaluate and/or develop serviceprovisions for students and provide clinical updates/feedback toUCC.
  • Provide strategic support to team lead andHead, UCC in the overall provision of UCCservices.
  • Maintain and submit statistical dataand/or related reports to Head, UCC as and whenrequired.
  • Implement/organize and/or participatein initiatives and programmes under UCC and/orUWO.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned byHead, UCC or Director,UWO


Administrative supportin University Counselling Centre(UCC)
  • Oversee the daily operations ofUCC and Satellite Counselling in Schools (SOAR), ensuring efficientand effective functioning.
  • Monitor and manageUCC's facilities and equipment, and work with Executive (Care andCounselling) to ensure proper maintenance and addressing any issuesor repairs.
  • Collaborate with external vendorsand service providers to procure necessary supplies, equipment, andservices for UCC and SCS.
  • Prepare and maintainaccurate records, reports and documentation related to UCC and SOARoperations, and budget.
  • Coordinate withUniversity Wellbeing Office (UWO) to manage UCC's budget, monitorexpenses and ensure financialcompliance


Requirements:
  • Graduatequalification in counselling, counselling psychology or clinicalpsychology.
  • Preferably a registered counsellorwith the Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC) or aregistered psychologist with the Singapore Psychological Society(SPS).
  • About 3-4 years of professionalcounselling experience and competent in case management andcritical incident management.
  • Proficient inprofessional counselling approaches and tools to help clients withdiverse issues and conditions
  • Experience inworking with young adults, preferable in a universitysetting
  • Experience in working in amulti-disciplinary team and conducting Continual ProfessionalDevelopment training for staff isadvantageous.
  • Experience in operationsmanagement, preferable in education or counsellingenvironment.
  • Strong attention to details andcommitment to maintaining accuracy in all operationalaspects.
  • Strong organisational and multitaskingskills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasksand responsibilities.
  • Possess professionalvalues that are in line with the Code of Ethics of SAC orSPS.
  • Possess good interpersonal andcommunication skills
  • Proficient in IT skills(e.g. Microsoft 365, use of Apps, appointment booking systems, casemanagement systems)
