Job Description: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Position Overview:
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will serve as a strategic business partner to the CEO and the Executive Leadership Team, driving financial strategy, planning, and management to support the company’s growth and long-term objectives. This role will oversee all aspects of financial management, including accounting, treasury, budgeting, financial reporting, and team development, while fostering relationships with investors, financial institutions, and key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategy, Planning & Management
- Act as a trusted advisor and business partner to the senior executive leadership team.
- Assess and evaluate financial performance concerning the organization’s long-term operational goals, budgets, and forecasts.
- Provide strategic insights and recommendations to support the company’s short-term and long-term growth initiatives.
- Identify, acquire, and implement advanced systems and software to deliver critical financial and operational insights.
- Collaborate and engage with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team to align financial objectives with business strategies.
- Establish and monitor annual financial objectives to drive growth and expansion plans.
- Select, engage, and manage relationships with consultants, auditors, and investors.
- Participate in pivotal decision-making related to strategic initiatives and operational models.
- Implement robust policies, procedures, and processes to enhance efficiency and governance.
2. Financial Management
- Lead cash flow planning to ensure sufficient funds are available for operations and growth.
- Oversee the management of cash, investments, and other financial assets.
- Cultivate and maintain strong banking and strategic relationships with vendors, partners, and stakeholders.
- Leverage forward-looking financial models and activity-based analyses to support decision-making and budgeting.
- Engage with investors to secure funding for strategic growth and expansion initiatives.
3. Financial Analysis, Budgeting, and Forecasting
- Prepare and deliver comprehensive monthly financial budgeting reports.
- Analyze financial results and provide actionable recommendations to the leadership team.
- Develop and manage monthly operating budgets and the annual corporate budget.
- Lead financial planning and analysis efforts to support the organization’s strategic goals.
4. Financial Operations, Treasury & FX
- Ensure the company has adequate financial resources to support its operations while adhering to sound financial management practices.
- Manage daily cash operations, including cash flow monitoring and reporting.
- Oversee the Accounts Payable (AP) department, approve large payables, sign checks, and authorize major wire transfers.
5. Accounting, General Ledger, & Financial Reporting
- Supervise the accounting function to ensure seamless operation of all financial systems, databases, and software.
- Maintain robust internal controls and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial and management reporting.
- Oversee preparation and communication of weekly, monthly, and annual financial statements.
- Manage the month-end close process and continuously optimize procedures for efficiency.
- Serve as the primary contact for external auditors and manage all aspects of audit preparation and support.
6. Financial Relations and Policies
- Develop and maintain comprehensive short- and long-term financial plans, projections, and budgets.
- Represent the organization in dealings with financial partners, institutions, public auditors, and regulatory officials.
- Lead and administer all banking and financial institution relationships.
- Build and sustain relationships with key stakeholders, including legal and advisory teams.
7. Tax & Contracts
- Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the company’s tax position while minimizing risk exposure.
- Approve all significant agreements involving financial obligations, including commercial contracts, IT assets, and service commitments.
8. Coaching & Team Development
- Build and lead a high-performing finance team capable of delivering strategic business insights and supporting decision-making.
- Develop and implement training and development plans for finance team members to enhance skills and performance.
- Ensure the finance organization is structured to support the company’s growth ambitions effectively.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in Finance, Engineering or other highly quantitative field.
- MBA degree from a top business school with a concentration in Finance or similar field.
- Minimum of 10–15 years of progressive experience in senior financial leadership roles, including at least 3 years in senior venture capital roles.
- Proven track record of strategic financial planning, operational management, and team leadership in high-growth technology businesses.
- Expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, and data analysis.
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS) and financial compliance requirements.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
