Assistant Engineer

Overview Of The Role

Assist the Engineering Manager in the delivery of services to operate and maintain the property including customer/client services, financial management, facility maintenance, procurement, and supplier management. Develop client relationships with key representatives in supporting client’s corporate real estate goals and objectives.

Leads team in the execution of inspection, testing and maintenance of facilities systems in compliance with all applicable local codes. Monitor the MEP projects, ensuring quality and timely delivery. You’ll contribute to the engineering oversight of the client’s comprehensive facility, contract and procurement management for facilities engineering services, aiming to hit financial targets and other goals set by the Campus Engineering Lead/Engineering Manager, and to meet service level agreements.

RESPONSIBILITIES Overcoming Engineering Challenges and Commitment to Operational Excellence

As an Electrical Engineer, you will:

• Provide basic technical advice and guidance for Facilities managers at campus and project teams on process system matters.
• Lead team members in executing tasks and responsibilities.
• Engage in general building process and mechanical system related issues; lead troubleshooting and restore systems such as HVAC, scrubbers, cold rooms, fume hoods, water systems.
• Mentor and train staff on proper work execution and ensure team members have the correct equipment and tools to perform duties safely.
• Perform maintenance planning, implementation and review of site-specific engineering processes and protocols, including documentation and adherence to established change management controls for the Campus.
• Contribute to investigation of facilities-related issues and lead troubleshooting and restoration of systems.
• Maintain documentation of all maintenance performed including system deficiencies.
• Perform risk assessments and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) to gain an understanding of the system.
• Facilitate Work Order processing to ensure timely and orderly flow for Work Orders (CMMS/Corrigo workflow).
• Provide effective solutions in managing campus daily operations and technical issues, including difficult situations.
• Ensure all essential site activities—including maintenance—are performed safely and efficiently; comply with policies and requirements set by the manufacturer, government, client and management teams, including regulatory compliance on fire, environmental, health and safety standards.
• Support audits to ensure safety procedures, disaster recovery and business continuity plans, and escalation procedures are in place and maintained.

Performance Excellence

• Foster positive working relationships by meeting (and exceeding) service level agreements with the client. Ensure all key performance indicators are met as set out in the management contract.

Championing Improvement including Projects

• Monitor spend and budgets for engineering contracts as required.
• Suggest improvements and savings for engineering systems that benefit both the company and clients.
• Coordinate with vendors on projects from start to finish; ensure safety audits and repairs are aligned with project timelines.
• Serve as the engineering point of contact and work closely with system leads on forecasts and planning in line with client requirements.
• Be open to new and innovative ideas with a focus on continuous improvement and customer delight.

A technical hand on expert

• Earned a diploma or degree in engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Process).
• Three to seven years of experience in a lab or plant machinery environment or engineering operations.
• Strong background in engineering troubleshooting is a plus.
• Proven experience in facilities system operations, MEP installations, etc.
• Experience in Thermal Safety, HSE programs is a plus.

Good communicator

• Excellent command of spoken and written English and a local language.
• Ability to communicate technical issues to colleagues, clients and vendors with varying levels of expertise.
