Seeking a mid-level commercial lawyer for a broad in-house role. Required to be based in Singapore. The Legal Counsel will be required to: Provide legal support to the business teams on a range of operational matters, including reviewing tenders/general contracts, and corporate governance/secretarial work. Act as legal and commercial deal facilitator who effectively balances legal and business risks whilst ensuring the firm’s interests are represented and protected. Provide advice and guidance to the deal team whilst instructing and managing outside counsel efficiently, deferring to their expertise whilst taking the lead on group decisions and matters Identify issues and provide proactive solutions on deal-related legal matters including structuring and commercial considerations and potential gaps. Negotiate and interact with the company’s key customers, business partners, investors and internal stakeholders Provide ad hoc legal support as and when needed Requirements: Minimum Bachelors or equivalent legal qualification from highly regarded university. 4– 6 years of post-qualification experience gained in a leading law firm and /or in-house with strong M&A / Corporate/ Investment Funds experience. Experience in PE, or PE backed companies, real estate or fund management would be preferred but not a must. A self-starter who is able to learn on the go and pick up various aspects of complex legal / commercial issues. Experienced in negotiating, executing and managing deals independently with a focus on execution timing and completion. Sound judgment, commercial and risk awareness across multiple practice areas. Able to recognize the business consequences of legal advice and make appropriate judgments and decisions or escalate as needed. Must be capable of working both autonomously and as part of a cross-jurisdictional team depending on deal size and structure as this role requires the ability to manage numerous, complex financial transactions which include private equity / M&A deals, fund formation, financing and capital fundraising. Strong interpersonal/people skills (including the ability to influence and build relationships without direct authority) and the ability interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
