Job Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Psychotherapist to join our team at a Special Kids Intervention Centre. The successful candidate will support children and adolescents with special or developmental needs with a variety of mental health problems and emotion difficulties.
You will provide psychological treatments to our children and their families, using evidence-based approaches to develop a better sense of self-awareness so that changes can be made to improve their emotional well-being, mental health, and social development and be able to function better in the school or work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group psychotherapy to children and adolescents with special needs, addressing emotional, behavioural, and developmental issues.
- Develop and implement personalised therapeutic plans tailored to the specific needs of each child.
- Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine the child’s emotional and psychological health.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team (including speech therapists, occupational therapists, and educators) to provide integrated care.
- Offer family therapy and counselling to support parents and caregivers in understanding and managing their child’s condition.
- Monitor progress and adapt therapeutic strategies as needed to meet the evolving needs of the children.
- Maintain accurate records of sessions, progress notes, and assessments in compliance with ethical and legal standards.
- Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and professional development sessions to enhance skills and knowledge in special needs care.
- Provide psycho-education and resources to families and other team members to support the ongoing care of the children.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Minimum of Diploma in Psychology/Counselling. Degree/Post Grad Diploma/Masters in Psychology/Counselling/ Family Therapy/Social Work, or a related field are preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children, particularly those with special needs (Autism, ADHD, GAD, DMDD, OCD, CD etc.).
- Strong understanding of child development, mental health disorders, and therapeutic approaches for children with special needs.
- Excellent writing, communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to improving the quality of life for children with special needs.
