Overview Mott MacDonald is seeking a Financial Accountant to join the finance team in Singapore. The role supports the Singapore and Malaysia financial accounts within the Asia business unit, with links to the wider APAC regional finance team and the Shared Service Center based in Bangkok. Responsibilities Oversee day-to-day bookkeeping activities, accounts payable/receivable, and cash management. Handle month-end and year-end closings, including account reconciliations and adjustment entries to ensure financial accuracy. Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and with Mott MacDonald Group accounting policies and practices. Prepare and analyze annual financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement) to comply with statutory reporting requirements. Prepare and submit timely and high-quality quarterly consolidation reports to Group Finance. Manage internal and external audits, including providing necessary documentation and audit responses; address audit findings and improve processes to meet statutory deadlines. Collaborate with the Financial Shared Services (FSS) in Thailand and the Tax team for annual CIT computations, timely tax payments, and filings; provide financial data for Transfer Pricing documentation; assist with WHT returns; provide support in tax queries/audits/GST/VAT/SST/FBT. Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets, prevent fraud, and ensure financial reporting accuracy; complete and sign off the annual Financial Control Matrix. Manage renewal of insurance policies over property, plant and equipment. Present financial information and insights to financial and non-financial stakeholders, including country managers and senior leadership. Participate in ad hoc financial accounting projects, system implementations, or process improvements. Qualifications Hold professional certifications: CPA or CA. About 4 years of relevant experience in financial accounting/tax with at least 2 years in audit. Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle). Meticulous, well-organized, and conscientious with a high level of initiative; able to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness. Self-motivated, hardworking, with a strong sense of responsibility and a positive working attitude. Resourceful and proactive, with a can-do attitude and willingness to learn and go beyond. Candidate with prior work in an audit firm is preferred. Adept at building and maintaining effective communication and relationships with key stakeholders, including the Shared Service Center, wider finance team, department heads, executives, non-finance teams, auditors, and banks. Proficient in English communication, both written and verbal.
