Our client is a global investment firm that is hiring a Senior Python Developer (Market Data) to help build and maintain a next-gen market data platform. This full-stack role spans system engineering and data infrastructure with a focus on performance, scalability and reliability.

Overview

Senior Data Engineer (Market Data, Python) will design and maintain high-performance, scalable data systems and contribute to a market data platform. Responsibilities focus on Python development, data infrastructure, and reliability within a financial data environment.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement systems using Python with a focus on performance and scalability
  • Maintain high development standards including testing, CI/CD, and clean architecture
  • Enhance and support legacy systems (e.g., microservices, ETL pipelines, Excel add-ins)
  • Improve infrastructure via IaC, disaster recovery, and observability (logs, alerts, monitoring)
  • Manage Windows/Linux servers and databases (backups, replication, troubleshooting)
  • Provide technical support, monitor system health, and respond to user queries
  • Understand and optimize the medallion data architecture for ingestion, processing, and storage
  • Contribute to external data acquisition and integration into the market data platform
Requirements
  • 5+ years of software development experience, ideally in data-intensive or distributed systems
  • Strong hands-on proficiency in Python development; experience with relational, NoSQL, and columnar databases
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, infrastructure-as-code, and system monitoring
  • Comfortable managing Linux/Windows servers and handling backups, replication, and troubleshooting
  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-project environment
  • Interest or experience in financial/market data and data engineering is a plus
