Job description: Reporting to the Cluster Director of Finance, the Cluster Assistant Director of Finance will assist in overseeing the overall financial management of the hotels, including financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, and the development and maintenance of internal accounting controls to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and brand financial reporting standards.
What You Will Be Doing- Strategic Financial Leadership
- Partner with the Cluster Director of Finance to shape financial strategy and align with Accor and ownership goals.
- Lead ROI analysis for capital expenditures and support feasibility studies for new initiatives.
- Review and negotiate contracts in the absence of the Cluster Director, ensuring financial protection and favorable terms.
- Ensure all licenses, permits, and insurance policies are current and compliant with the Management Agreement.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare and analyse monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) with commentary on variances and trends.
- Submit detailed month-end packages to Sofitel AP and ownership, including credit analysis and cash flow forecasts.
- Certify accuracy of internal and external financial reports before distribution.
- Maintain documentation to support all balance sheet accounts and ensure audit readiness.
- Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in preparing the hotel's annual operating budget and rolling forecasts.
- Collaborate with department heads to develop realistic and strategic departmental budgets.
- Monitor actual performance against budget and provide variance analysis with actionable recommendations.
- Internal Controls & Compliance
- Design and maintain robust internal control systems to safeguard assets and ensure policy compliance.
- Conduct regular internal audits and support external audits with timely documentation and responses.
- Ensure compliance with local tax laws, including GST and corporate tax filings.
- Monitor bank reconciliations, cash flow projections, and petty cash management.
- Systems & Process Optimisation
- Oversee financial systems (e.g., accounting software, POS integration) to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Lead system upgrades or transitions, ensuring minimal disruption and full staff training.
- Implement process improvements to streamline reporting, reconciliation, and procurement workflows.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Manage and mentor the finance team, fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct performance reviews, set development goals, and provide coaching where needed.
- Cross-train team members to ensure coverage and resilience in daily operations.
- Promote open communication and celebrate team successes to boost morale and retention.
- Responsible for the performance and development of direct report(s) and/or team with effective supervision and coaching where applicable.
- General
- Follow workplace safety and security policies; report accidents or incidents to security/talent & culture team immediately.
- Participate in Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability initiatives organized by the Hotel.
- Perform any other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned.
- Degree in Accountancy / Finance or equivalent
- Professional qualification such as CPA / CA / CMA will be an added advantage
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in a managerial role in the hospitality industry
- Strong business acumen, critical thinking and strategic decision-making skills
- Strong human relations and influencing skills
- Strong communications (verbal and written), planning and coordination skills
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Strong time management skills
- Effective change management skills
- Attention to detail and highly meticulous
