How you succeed To succeed in this role you need to be passionate about software development, committed to delivering high‑quality solutions, and able to collaborate with cross‑functional teams to understand business requirements, design and develop software applications, and ensure seamless integration with existing systems. What you do Design and develop microservices architecture, identifying service boundaries, defining APIs, and implementing services using suitable programming languages and frameworks. Implement business logic by writing clean and efficient code that meets functional requirements and adheres to best practices and coding standards. Ensure scalability and performance, optimising services for high throughput, low latency, and efficient resource utilisation with caching, load balancing, and other performance optimisation techniques. Integrate and deploy microservices, ensuring seamless communication and data exchange between services by implementing appropriate integration patterns and technologies. Deploy using cloud tools and techniques for smooth deployment and management. Identify and resolve performance, scalability, and reliability issues in microservices, monitoring service health, analysing logs, and implementing monitoring and alerting mechanisms. Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and develop solutions that meet their needs. Work with cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless integration with existing systems. Participate in code reviews and contribute to overall code quality improvement. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a timely and efficient manner. Who you are A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. At least five years of experience in software development, preferably in a banking or financial services environment. Knowledge of application servers such as WebLogic and JBoss. Knowledge of MVC design, data modelling, deployment and build management. Experience in cloud‑native architecture with microservices, container‑based orchestration, CI/CD, domain‑driven design, and API design. Experience with public clouds such as AWS or OpenShift. Experience with frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, JPA. Experience with MQ, Kafka. Experience with Agile development methodologies and version control systems such as Git. Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to analyse complex technical issues and develop creative solutions.
