Founded in 1949, The Singapore Chess Federation (SCF) is the principal authority over all chess events in Singapore. The Federation is affiliated with the World Chess Federation and members of the Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC) and Singapore Sports Council (SSC). SCF registered itself as a society under the Societies Act in 1961 and is also an Institute of Public Character, and a non-profit organization with charitable status.

Role Description

SCF has two goals:

  • Train high-level athletes (national squads, performance pathways), and
  • Grow public awareness & participation in chess.

Your job is to support both goals, with a particular emphasis on driving sign-ups and conversions, and public awareness of social initiatives (courses, trials, tournaments, outreach programs).

What You’ll Do

  • Pillar A — High Performance & Pathways
  • Keep info pages, calendars, and FAQs accurate and up to date.
  • Produce athlete-centric content (features, recaps, results), aligned with national team branding and sponsors.
  • Build simple media/partner decks; coordinate press notes and performance updates.
  • Streamline athlete/parent communications (EDMs, notices, forms).
  • Pillar B — Public Awareness & Participation
  • Plan and execute campaigns for courses, schools/community programs, roadshows, and tournaments.
  • Optimize website pages, forms, and FAQs to remove friction and increase course/event sign-ups.
  • Run social, email, and light paid ads; build school/partner outreach lists; manage community moderation.
  • Content & Design: Social tiles/reels, short videos, EDMs; Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator (Canva ok), basic video editing (Premiere/CapCut).
  • Web & Registration Ops: WordPress updates, basic HTML/CSS helpful; WooCommerce listings/checkout info for registrations.
  • Event Coverage: On-site photo/video and rapid social updates during tournaments and activations.

What You Bring

  • 0–2 years’ experience in digital marketing/comms or fresh graduate with a strong portfolio/school projects and a fast-learning mindset.
  • Strong copywriting and visual sense; proficiency in Adobe Suite (Ps/Ai).
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Willing to work some evenings/weekends for major events (time off in lieu per policy).
  • Organized, detail-oriented, calm under live-event pressure; collaborative team player.
  • Interest in chess or sports is a plus.
  • Experience with WordPress and WooCommerce is a plus.

Work Arrangement

  • On-site in Singapore, with island-wide event coverage when required.
  • Non-standard hours during tournaments; TOIL/off-days per policy.
  • Commitment to safeguarding of minors and federation policies.
