Plastic R&D Engineer

Overview

Our client is looking for a Polymer R&D Engineer to work directly with the Head of Technology & Commercialization to advance their polymeric solutions portfolio. This multifaceted role combines hands-on laboratory management with innovative polymer development, client collaboration, and technology implementation. You'll drive the creation of cutting-edge polymer solutions that seamlessly integrate with client processes while ensuring scalability and cost-effectiveness.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in polymer science or materials engineering, with a passion for translating complex technical concepts into practical, market-ready solutions.

Research & Development Leadership

• Spearhead the development of innovative polymeric marking solutions, including formulation and application of markers/codes across diverse polymer materials
• Design scalable, cost-efficient solutions that align with client specifications and process requirements
• Execute comprehensive R&D experiments and trials while maintaining strict adherence to project specifications and industry standards
• Analyze experimental data and deliver detailed technical reports with actionable insights
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to develop compelling Proof of Concepts (POCs) and prototypes

Laboratory Operations Management

• Oversee all aspects of daily laboratory operations, including equipment maintenance, procurement and inventory control
• Ensure laboratory infrastructure meets project demands and exceeds safety standards
• Coordinate comprehensive testing schedules and manage execution across internal and external facilities
• Maintain meticulous documentation of all testing procedures, results and processes
• Champion Health, Environmental and Safety (HES) protocols to maintain optimal working conditions

Client Partnership & Technology Integration

• Lead technical aspects of client technology implementation projects, ensuring seamless alignment with timelines and requirements
• Serve as primary technical liaison, providing expert support, troubleshooting, and resolution services
• Deliver compelling client presentations, translating complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights
• Collaborate on developing comprehensive technical documentation, operational manuals, and client reports

Cross-Functional Project Leadership

• Partner with R&D, Product Development and Engineering teams to drive successful project outcomes
• Proactively identify and resolve technical challenges while maintaining project momentum
• Provide strategic updates to leadership on project status, risk assessment, and improvement opportunities
• Champion continuous innovation and technical excellence across the polymeric solutions portfolio

Strategic Support & Development

• Coordinate technology demonstrations, client site visits, and technical workshops
• Identify and evaluate new commercialization opportunities and market expansion potential
• Stay current with emerging polymer science advancements and integrate relevant technologies
• Mentor junior engineers and lab technicians, fostering technical growth and knowledge transfer

• Strong technical foundation in polymer science or materials engineering
• Proven experience in laboratory management and R&D operations
• Excellent project management and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Outstanding communication abilities with experience in client-facing roles
• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities
