We are currently looking for an energetic and experienced Freight Trader to join our team in Singapore office. Primary Responsibilities Communicate with internal traders and vessel owners/brokers to price freight needs; use FFA and analyze external price proposals to determine fair market prices; negotiate freight rates and other Charter Party contractual terms. Research freight market information through communication with brokers and owners to assist in accurately assessing freight levels and projecting freight levels; provide information on grain and other bulk flows as well as competitor and supplier activities to the global team as applicable. Assist with internal enquiries and price grids; disclose and discuss pertinent information with the Senior Trader and with the global size desk; contribute to discussions on pricing for focused markets/flows. Identify and trade arbitrage and hedging opportunities in the freight derivatives and futures market during pricing and negotiation; assess the opportunity of applying a period ship or new period ship fixture against a specific freight sale. Establish and maintain relationships with external third‑party accounts on both grain and other bulk commodity flows that align with in‑house flow and also offer strategic opportunities for the period fleet. Freight Contract Execution Enter sales and purchases correctly and on time into the Freight Platform’s contract module. Work closely with Freight Operations to stay on top of itineraries, stow plans, and voyage execution PnLs; ensure all documentary and administrative requirements are completed in a timely manner. Resolve minor problems in collaboration with traders, execution teams, and owners; escalated larger issues to the Senior level and/or Size/Regional Manager. Evaluate and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and determine the need for changes; consult with other traders on unusual price strategy, policy, and operational issues. Adhere to Corporate and/or Platform Risk, Credit, Compliance, and Ethics guidelines. Additional Responsibilities Research and evaluate trading partners based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production, distribution capabilities, reputation, and history. Undertake and complete training on time charter and voyage charter parties, FFA contract negotiation and execution, vessel bunkering hedging and execution, internal freight accounting practices, and internal freight IT systems. Manage data in the freight system. Handle other document tasks related to China flow. Professional Requirements Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Finance, Economics, or Maritime Concentration. 4+ years of relevant experience within dry commodities/ supra/ handy/ panamax desk. Excellent oral and written English and preferably one other language. Strong MS Excel skills; data science and statistics skills. Strong analytical and interpersonal skills. Self‑motivated, assertive, and possess emotional intelligence. Working Conditions Fast‑paced trading‑floor environment; this position is considered 'on call' 24/7 to complete time‑sensitive projects, attend training, or respond to emergencies.
