Overview

We are working exclusively with a regional leader in the fintech space to hire a Legal Counsel to join its growing legal team. This role will be based in Singapore and offers the opportunity to cover a broad range of insurance-related legal and regulatory matters across the region. The successful candidate will support the business on product development, regulatory compliance, and commercial matters, working closely with senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise on insurance product development, structuring, and distribution, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Provide legal guidance on financial regulatory issues, including licensing, conduct of business, and regulatory filings.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements with partners, service providers, and distributors.
  • Monitor and interpret regulatory changes in insurance and financial services, advising on business impact.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (compliance, risk, product, and commercial) to ensure business objectives are met within legal and regulatory frameworks.
  • Support dispute management, internal governance, and the implementation of legal and compliance policies.
Requirements
  • 3–6 years of post-qualification experience gained from a reputable law firm and/or in-house legal team.
  • Strong experience in the insurance sector, with a solid understanding of insurance products and financial regulatory matters.
  • Prior exposure to fintech or digital financial services is advantageous but not essential.
  • Regional exposure a plus, but prior experience outside Singapore is not required.
  • Strong drafting, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to balance technical legal advice with pragmatic business solutions.
