Director, Technical Services & Sustainability (MEP) Job Industry: Luxury Hospitality & Resort Development Function: Engineering, Technical Advisory, Project Management, ESG Experience: 8-12 Years (Lead/Advisory Role) Education: Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline The Opportunity: Technical Leadership Seeking a highly experienced and passionate Director to lead the technical advisory for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems across portfolio of luxury resort projects. This pivotal role ensures the quality, efficiency, compliance, and strategic long-term sustainability of all MEP services, from concept design through to hotel operations. The successful candidate will be the strategic technical voice that protects brand integrity and drives its commitment to environmental excellence (ESG) in every new development, conversion, and refurbishment project. Key Responsibilities 1. Design & Project Oversight (Advisory Role) Provide strategic technical services advisory to ensure strict adherence to Brand Standards for all MEP installations during new-build, conversion, re-branding, and refurbishment projects. Prepare detailed engineering services briefs and critically review/comment on consultant designs, focusing on operational efficiency, design appropriateness, and long-term maintenance practicality. Conduct regular and periodic site visits to assigned projects to monitor construction progress and ensure compliance with approved Brand Standards and specifications. 2. Brand Standards, Due Diligence & Compliance Conduct technical inspections and provide expert engineering input during the due diligence process for potential acquisitions or conversions. Perform Pre-Opening Technical Reviews to confirm readiness relative to Brand Standards, Fire, Life & Safety (FLS), and local regulatory compliance. Identify and execute Property Improvement Plans (PIPs) for existing properties, specifying necessary technical upgrades to align with standards. Periodically review and contribute to the update of design and construction standards to maintain industry leadership and incorporate sustainable technologies. 3. Sustainability & Operational Excellence Spearhead sustainability initiatives related to decarbonization, waste management, energy efficiency, and water conservation efforts across the regional portfolio. Provide expert advice and direction to Hotel Directors of Engineering (DOEs) on FLS protocols, operational standards, and environmental practices to ensure superior guest experiences and cost management. Identify, develop, document, and implement innovative technologies to enhance the efficiency and operational lifetime of MEP systems. Candidate Requirements Essential Qualifications Minimum 8 to 12 years of experience in a lead Consultancy or Hotel Technical Services role , with extensive exposure to luxury hospitality projects being a significant advantage. A recognized professional qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. A proven passion for Sustainability, ESG, and process implementation . Technical & Leadership Skills Demonstrated Leadership and Team-Building capabilities , with the ability to provide mentorship and clear direction to both in-house teams and external consultants. Familiarity with international and local sustainability programs , including Green Mark, LEED, EarthCheck, etc. Strong understanding of good construction practices and an acute eye for technical details and quality assurance . Highly organized, proactive, and capable of working independently under pressure to meet aggressive project deadlines. Excellent written and verbal presentation skills to communicate complex technical issues to diverse stakeholders (Owners, GMs, Finance, and Design teams).
