About The Role Key Responsibilities
  • Strategy & Organizational Development: Establish clear mission and vision, set objectives, lead and develop the Engineering Function. Ensure inspection readiness, support audits, and ensure compliance with quality standards, GOPs, and other standards.
  • Maintenance & Calibration: Drive and improve technical availability, reliability, and asset condition by establishing cost-efficient repair and maintenance processes in compliance with regulations. Define and execute asset strategies and lifecycle management.
  • Vendor & Contractor Management: Develop contractual strategies and frameworks to manage vendors and contractors and their contracts.
  • Project Engineering & Control: Manage investment budgets and project portfolios, lead investment review committees, and develop project strategies aligned with the site’s vision.
  • Technical Services Operations: Drive improvements in infrastructure, utilities, availability, and reliability.
  • Commissioning & Qualification: Ensure adequate C&Q systems are in place and complete equipment C&Qs as planned.
  • System & Tools: Manage and customize systems/databases for design, installation, qualification, and lifecycle management of facilities and equipment.
  • Environmental Sustainability: Lead efforts to achieve the site and Novartis’ environmental sustainability goals.
Essential Requirements
  • Degree in engineering (Dipl. Ing. / M. Sc. / B. Sc.) or equivalent
  • Fluent in English and proficient in the local language
  • Leadership experience in major investment projects or large maintenance organizations
  • Excellent project management, contract management, and financial skills
  • Strong communication skills for presenting complex ideas to diverse audiences
  • In-depth technical knowledge in chemical and/or pharmaceutical processes and equipment
  • Interdisciplinary knowledge
  • Extended HSE and GxP/QA knowledge
Desirable Requirements
  • Experience in pharmaceutical or biotech organizations
  • Six Sigma / Lean knowledge and experience
