Assistant Manager/Manager (Collections Management), HCC - 2 years contract at National Heritage Board.
The Heritage Conservation Centre (HCC), an institution under the National Heritage Board, plays a leading role in heritage conservation in Singapore. It is also the repository and conservation facility for the management and preservation of Singapore's National Collection (NC). The Collections Management Department in HCC cares for and facilitates access to the NC through supporting collecting institutions in exhibitions and research, as well as through preventive conservation. In this role, you will be part of a dynamic and motivated team that is passionate about art and heritage preservation, gaining varied specialised knowledge in collections care and management.
What You Will Be Working On- Perform collection accessioning duties, e.g. condition checking, information recording, and visual documentation.
- Project manage, coordinate and support museum exhibitions, rotations and loans, e.g. receiving new acquisitions, managing artefact lists, facilitating access to storage, retrieving artefacts for conservation, and packing and transportation of artefacts.
- Manage storage repositories and safeguard the collection in accordance with established policies, SOPs, guidelines, and preventive conservation practices.
- Perform annual stocktake and assist with audits to maintain accountability of the collection.
- Manage and maintain accurate collections data and movements in the collections database.
- Supervise art-handlers and external contractors.
- Any other duties and projects assigned.
- Preferably at least 1 year working experience with degree or discipline relevant to collections management work, such as Museum Studies, Preventive Conservation, Information Science, Business/Arts Management, or a combination of related training and experience. Fresh graduates with a passion for culture and heritage are welcome to apply.
- Project management skills – ability to plan and execute projects in an effective and efficient manner.
- Stakeholder management skills – ability to build and sustain relationships with stakeholders.
- Meticulous, organised, independent, and willing to learn.
- Able to multi-task and handle multiple concurrent projects.
- Has a positive attitude and good teamwork, communication and writing skills.
- Competent in MS Office and able to quickly pick up computer skills and knowledge.
- Has a keen interest in heritage and culture.
- Interest or prior experience in archaeology is beneficial.
Successful candidates will be offered a 2-year contract.
