Scientific Program Officer (Cancer Science Institute) – National University of Singapore

Overview

As a Scientific Officer, you will manage and support a diverse portfolio of research projects and academic events. This role includes overseeing project progress, ensuring compliance with grant conditions, facilitating cross-team communication, and handling financial administration, HR coordination, programmatic outreach, and graduate program support. This requires strategic planning, meticulous attention to detail, and strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities
  • Research Grant Administration & Management: support grant applications (IRB/DSRB, IACUC, budget adjustments), promote funding strategies, identify funding opportunities, assist with budgets, prepare and track budgets, maintain records of award letters and reports, oversee procurement and claims, ensure invoices align with project scope, coordinate with Finance and HR on expenditure and staff induction.
  • Research Program & Project Management: collaborate with Principal Investigators to develop and evaluate research themes, facilitate meetings, ensure milestones and deliverables are met, maintain research compliance policies and procedures, align work plans with grant conditions, generate reports and present findings.
  • Programmatic Outreach: engage internal and external stakeholders to promote research initiatives and partnerships, manage memberships and bibliometrics reporting, plan research events, workshops, and seminars, manage media relations and publicize research news.
  • Research Graduate Programme: serve as liaison between research teams and graduate schools, administer graduate and fellowship programs.
Qualifications
  • Masters in Life Sciences or a related field
  • Ability to multitask, work independently, and collaborate effectively within a team
  • Proactive and results-oriented approach with excellent writing, reporting, and presentation skills
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in research administrative management (familiarity with SAP/iRIMS is a plus)
