The successful candidate will be developing and analysing mathematical models of the evolution of punishment institutions, and will be supervised by Assoc. Prof. Ryan Chisholm, who leads a vibrant theoretical ecology lab at the National University of Singapore (NUS). This interdisciplinary project also involves philosophers at NUS. It seeks to build bridges between evolutionary understandings of the origins of punishment and ethical views on the morality of punishment.The main responsibilities of the position include: Translation of evolutionary problems into mathematical models Mathematical and computational modelling of dynamical systems Collaboration and communication with the philosophy members of the project team Leading papers reporting the results Qualifications Ph.D. in Mathematical Biology or a related fieldSkills: Mathematical analysis of dynamical systems. Computational analysis of dynamical systems (e.g., in R, Python, or C++). Expertise in evolutionary game theory. Translation of Biological problems into Mathematics. Writing Mathematical Biology papers for broad biological audiences.Experience: Have a background in Mathematical Biology or a related field Have a good publishing track record Experience working in interdisciplinary teams
