Role DescriptionPosition: Legal Counsel - FinTech Privacy. You will work in a team of lawyers and privacy compliance analysts, advising on data protection and privacy to ensure compliance with applicable laws. You will collaborate with Senior Counsels on complex matters and report to the Senior Managing Counsel.
Responsibilities- Assess data processing activities within proposed products and services, including financial products.
- Conduct Data Protection Risk Assessments and Data Protection Impact Assessments.
- Provide ad-hoc legal advice on privacy and fintech matters regionally, including disclosure requirements, data transfer mechanisms, and marketing/consumer law impact.
- Stay current on developments in data protection and privacy laws globally.
- Implement and maintain privacy policies and procedures.
- Perform third-party services risk assessments and negotiate data processing agreements and data protection issues in commercial contracts with group members or third parties.
- Collaborate with the Global Data Protection Officer, other Legal Counsels, Fintech, Risk & Compliance, Procurement, Security and external counsels globally.
- 3+ years' experience in a top-tier law firm, major corporation or financial institution in data protection, privacy compliance and data security.
- Undergraduate degree and legal professional qualification; CIPP/E or CIPT (or similar) certification is a plus.
- Deep understanding of GDPR, APAC and India data protection laws.
- Experience with financial/banking products and regulatory developments in APAC/India.
- Ability to respond quickly, prioritise effectively, with an entrepreneurial mindset and hands-on approach.
- Fluency in English with excellent verbal and written communication; additional languages are a plus.
