Senior Embedded Software Engineer

The Senior Embedded Software Engineer will work on embedded software for satellite laser communication payloads. The role will also collaborate with CENTAURI software and hardware engineering to develop and maintain embedded software for microcontrollers and peripherals, including sensors and optical devices.

Responsibilities

• Develop features and fix issues for embedded software for satellite laser communication payloads
• Perform testing and validation on development boards and production systems
• Build embedded software prototypes for various peripherals to support R&D
• Design and develop the embedded architecture and platform for Transcelestial’s next generation of products and systems
• Develop features and fix issues for embedded software for the CENTAURI

What you will bring

• Extremely strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, especially in unfamiliar and time-sensitive situations
• Strong attention to detail, a meticulous and highly-organized character, and no ego
• Ability to tame complexity with simplicity, structure, and clarity
• Ability to make sound technical decisions and formulate execution plans under time pressure, with limited resources
• Ability to make engineering trade-offs and assess risks with respect to business objectives
• Strong verbal/written communication and presentation skills
• Ability to work with a diverse, collaborative team in a time-sensitive environment
• Knowledge of electronics; proficiency in debugging hardware and embedded issues
• Experience with board-level hardware design and board bring-up
• Knowledge of communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, USB, CAN)
• Working knowledge of Git
• Knowledge of Linux (Debian) and real-time operating systems (FreeRTOS, ThreadX)
• Experience with FPGA software (VHDL/Verilog)
• Proficiency in C and C++
• Comfortable with the command line
• Experience developing tests (unit/integration) with Python or Tcl

Nice to have

• Experience developing embedded software for satellite payloads
• Experience with ROS 2
• Experience developing for FPGAs
