Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced professional to drive the underwriting and development of non-life treaty and facultative reinsurance across Asia. This individual will be instrumental in shaping market strategies, cultivating client relationships, and ensuring sustainable portfolio growth while upholding the highest underwriting standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the assessment, pricing, and underwriting of treaty and facultative reinsurance opportunities across diverse Asian markets.
  • Formulate and implement market-specific strategies to expand and enhance profitability across targeted lines of business.
  • Monitor and manage natural catastrophe exposures, ensuring effective accumulation control within assigned territories.
  • Strengthen underwriting frameworks by contributing to the creation and refinement of guidelines, best practices, and procedures.
  • Partner with brokers and clients to originate new business, negotiate terms, and secure profitable placements.
  • Conduct independent treaty and facultative negotiations, ensuring commercial and technical balance in decision-making.
  • Increase the company’s market visibility and brand presence across the region through active representation and relationship building.
  • Collaborate with clients to identify business needs and design tailored solutions, including value-added offerings such as technical training support.
  • Travel within the region to maintain strong client and broker engagement, pursue new opportunities, and represent the organization.
  • Support talent development by coaching junior underwriters and providing guidance on technical and commercial aspects of underwriting.
Candidate Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, or related discipline.
  • Solid track record in reinsurance underwriting, with strong expertise in treaty business and a solid grasp of facultative solutions.
  • Proficiency in both proportional and non-proportional treaty structures, supported by prior use of reinsurance pricing tools.
  • In-depth understanding of Asian reinsurance markets, with established networks among regional clients and brokers.
  • Prior exposure to global reinsurers or multinational environments will be highly advantageous.
  • Demonstrated contribution to technical working groups or cross-functional projects.
  • Advanced knowledge in property treaty underwriting, with additional exposure to other non-life lines an asset.
  • Strong communication skills (written and spoken English), coupled with the ability to deliver impactful presentations and negotiations.
  • Recognized as a collaborative team player with proven leadership capabilities and the drive to mentor and inspire others.
