The National University Hospital (NUH) is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to join our Department of Laboratory Medicine as a Medical Consultant for the Molecular Diagnostic Centre (MDC). This is an exceptional opportunity to lead a molecular diagnostic service within a premier academic medical institution. About the Role Reporting to the Head of Department (HOD), Laboratory Medicine, the successful candidate will be a strategic and operational leader, driving the vision and development of the MDC. This role encompasses clinical, administrative, and scientific oversight, ensuring excellence in service delivery, quality assurance, and accreditation compliance. Key responsibilities include: Leading and supervising molecular laboratory operations, including test reporting and new test development. Working with the department’s HOD and Head of Lab Sciences to advance laboratory operations. Enhancing MDC’s diagnostic capabilities through innovation and strategic initiatives. Driving quality assurance and ensuring adherence to accreditation standards. Shaping the Future of Precision Medicine The department is developing a comprehensive precision medicine service. This initiative will encompass genomic testing for a wide range of specialties, including cancer genomics, familial hyperlipidaemia, renal disease, rare inherited disorders, and pharmacogenomics. The overarching goal is to establish our institution as the preeminent regional centre for advanced genomic testing. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in this ambitious endeavour, serving as a key driver and leader in shaping the future of precision medicine in our region. Who We Are Looking For We are seeking a proactive, energetic, and team-oriented leader who will help shape our strategic agenda and take ownership of critical developments in molecular diagnostics. Essential specifications MBBS / MD FRCPath / FRCPA / Molecular Genetic Pathology certification by American Board of Pathology or equivalent Relevant experience in molecular genetics Strong background in clinical molecular laboratory service Academic & Research Opportunities As part of a leading academic medical centre, the successful candidate will have exciting opportunities for education and research collaboration with the National University of Singapore (NUS).
