Our client is a well-established Commodities Trading MNC with strong regional presence in APAC. They are looking for a seasoned professional in the Metals to lead their team as a Procurement Director. This incumbent will oversee the strategic sourcing, negotiations, and end-to-end management of iron ore procurement, ensuring a stable, cost-efficient, and sustainable supply to support the company’s steelmaking or trading operations. Key Responsibilities Formulate and execute procurement strategies for iron ore aligned with corporate goals. Manage and strengthen relationships with mining companies, suppliers, and traders. Identify, assess, and secure dependable global supply sources. Gather and analyse market intelligence on iron ore trends. Guarantee timely delivery of required grades and volumes to meet operational demands. Oversee contract negotiations, compliance, and performance monitoring. Foster partnerships with miners, traders, and logistics providers worldwide. Track global commodity movements, pricing indices, and supply-demand dynamics. Negotiate both long-term agreements and spot purchases to ensure cost efficiency and supply security. Deliver cost savings and added value through effective sourcing initiatives. Prepare budgets, forecasts, and procurement reports for management review. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Business, Procurement, or related fields At least 10 years of procurement experience, including 8 years in iron ore, steel, or physical commodity trading. Established global network within the iron ore supplier and trading community. Demonstrated success in negotiating large-scale contracts and managing supplier relationships. In-depth knowledge of commodity markets, price benchmarks (e.g., Platts, Metal Bulletin), and shipping/logistics. Experience leading procurement teams in cross-functional environments. Strong negotiation, influencing, and analytical skills. Commercial acumen with a global mindset and cultural awareness. Proven leadership and team development ability.
