Employee Relations Manager, Asia – Education group

Our client is a leading education group and is looking for an Employee Relations Manager, Asia to join their office in Singapore.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership/management on all matters related to employee relations.
  • Promote consistent ER practices across various schools and countries.
  • Lead or oversee complex and sensitive casework, including conduct, grievances, capabilities, and discrimination.
  • Ensure that all ER issues are handled consistently, lawfully, and in alignment with company values.
  • Support school leaders in conducting thorough and fair investigations, ensuring proper documentation and outcomes.
  • Provide strategic and hands-on support for employee and industrial relations, including engagement with unions and governmental bodies in labour-focused countries across Asia.
  • Assist in reviewing and standardizing ER-related policies, such as disciplinary, grievance, and performance policies.
  • Ensure all policies comply with local employment legislation in each country of operation.
  • Coach and empower leaders and HR teams to effectively handle ER matters.
  • Design and deliver training sessions on topics such as managing difficult conversations, conducting fair investigations, and promoting dignity at work.
  • Monitor ER themes and trends to identify potential risks or areas of concern, and recommend proactive strategies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or a related field.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in HR or ER, ideally with regional exposure.
  • Strong knowledge in employment law and ER practice across multiple Asian jurisdictions.
  • Skilled in coaching senior leaders and building capability in line managers.
  • Excellent judgement, with the ability to balance legal risk, organisational values, and cultural nuance.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex ER cases end-to-end.
  • Experience working in international education or similarly people-intensive, values-driven sectors.
  • Familiarity with collective consultation, safeguarding issues, or regulatory compliance.
