Position: Conservator (Paintings)

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct conservation assessments, documentation, and treatments on the National Collection following HCC and NHB procedures.
  • Manage exhibition projects, including conservation and administrative aspects, as liaison officer.
  • Implement preventive conservation measures, storage improvements, and advise on transport, handling, and display.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train junior staff to develop their skills and knowledge.
  • Lead conservation research projects, collaborating locally and internationally.
  • Ensure proper documentation and knowledge management of conservation activities.
  • Participate in administrative duties, procurement, and outreach activities.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Conservation, specializing in Easel Paintings, with 5-8 years of relevant full-time experience.
  • Experience advising on complex treatments, supervising staff, and managing projects.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and teamwork skills.
  • Manual dexterity and aesthetic sensitivity for comprehensive treatments.
  • Experience with Southeast Asian collections and modern/contemporary artworks is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; ability to work across departments and cultures.
  • Organizational skills to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Sensitivity to multicultural materials and sound conservation judgment.
  • Ability to adapt in a multilingual environment; commitment to continual professional development.
