Position: Head of Finance, Asia

The Head of Finance, Asia is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of Czarnikow’s five south-east Asian entities: Singapore, China, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines. This includes strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, cash flow management, system development/improvements and team leadership. The role ensures the financial health and sustainability of the region while aligning financial strategies with broader business objectives. This role will oversee regional entity turnover of $350m and headcount of 14 across the five entities.

Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the company’s financial strategy in alignment with business goals. Act as a key advisor to the Regional Directors and trading teams on financial planning, business performance, and strategic opportunities. Participate in corporate strategy development and decision-making processes. Regular regional travel to local offices to drive strategy development.
  • Financial Management: Oversee the preparation of timely and accurate financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and monthly management accounts. Coordinate with local teams to ensure compliance and timeliness. Manage budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes. Monitor key financial metrics and benchmarks; report and communicate to relevant stakeholders. Ensure robust internal controls, financial systems, and reporting structures are in place. Liaise with the development team in HQ, London to communicate local system modifications. Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and tax requirements across all entities. Identify financial risks and develop mitigation strategies with risk and compliance teams based in the region and at HQ. Continuous process review to support the diversification strategy of the business.
  • Team Leadership: Build, lead, and develop a high-performing finance team. Work with finance leaders in each country to discuss and implement strategy. Provide coaching, mentorship, and professional development opportunities. Foster a culture of accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
  • Essential:
  • CPA, ACCA, CFA, or equivalent professional qualification.
  • 15+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven experience in financial strategy, budgeting, compliance, and reporting.
  • Experience in a similar-sized business or commodity sector is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal abilities.
  • High proficiency in financial software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles (IFRS/GAAP).
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Hands-on and detail-oriented, with a high level of integrity and professionalism.
