Overview

An Album Art Designer is needed to develop visual concepts and cover artwork for a hip hop/rap mixtape. The project calls for a strong creative vision that aligns with the themes of the music, with the potential to draw inspiration from Aesop's fables and symbolic storytelling. The designer will work closely with the musician to propose cover ideas and explore artistic approaches that capture the narrative essence of the project. This is a single-job engagement, fully remote, with flexibility for creative exploration and professional input on timelines and design process.

Responsibilities
  • Develop album cover concepts that reflect the mixtape's themes and narrative
  • Explore symbolic or metaphorical visual elements, potentially inspired by Aesop's fables
  • Provide moodboards, sketches, or concept drafts to guide creative direction
  • Create finalized cover artwork optimized for digital streaming platforms and print formats
  • Collaborate with the musician to refine and align visual concepts with the music's identity
  • Ensure artwork is original, compelling, and marketable within the hip hop/rap genre
Skills and Requirements
  • Proven experience designing album covers or visual branding for musicians
  • Strong creative direction skills with the ability to translate abstract ideas into visual concepts
  • Proficiency in graphic design and illustration software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Procreate)
  • Familiarity with symbolism and narrative-driven visual storytelling
  • Portfolio demonstrating experience in music-related or concept-driven artwork
  • Ability to work independently, meet agreed deadlines, and communicate effectively in a remote setting
