Summary
The Privacy Counsel Greater Asia is a member of the BD Global Privacy LT and serves the BD Privacy and Data Protection Strategy and Program in the Greater Asia Region, reporting – in solid line – to the VP, Chief Privacy and Cybersecurity Counsel & Group DPO and – in dotted line – to the Chief Regional Counsel Greater Asia.
This role is responsible for assisting Businesses and Functions in the Greater Asia Region in:
Overseeing the development of all aspects of the BD Privacy and Data Protection Strategy and Operating Model, with a specific focus on applicable data protection laws and regulations in the territory in scope and the ways in which they have been implemented by BD in business activities
Covering the role of Local Data Protection Officer (DPO) for BD in all appropriate jurisdictions in Greater Asia, when required by law
Delivering BD Privacy and Data Protection Program, in an integrated and consistent manner, to ensure compliance with privacy laws on the part of all relevant BD Greater Asia Businesses and Functions, while meeting the needs of BD businesses and the expectations of regulators
Supporting and ensuring effective coordination of BD Privacy and Data Protection Governance in Greater Asia by managing Greater Asia Privacy Manager(s), establishing and coordinating a network of Privacy Champions in Businesses and Functions, and briefing all relevant business committees and leadership teams in the Region.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree required.
Law degree and in-house legal experience with a medical device or pharmaceutical company preferred.
IAPP certification(s) (CIPP, CIPM, CIPT) are a plus.
At least 3 years' experience of international privacy program development and management.
Deep knowledge of privacy and data protection laws, regulations and best practices.
Knowledge and experience of building and maintaining compliance programs and/or controls in a highly regulated area is required.
Experience of working in a multinational company and a complex, matrixed environment is a significant plus.

Strong analytical, critical thinking, keen attention to detail and problem-solving skills; ability to understand complex topics and identify critical issues in a timely manner.
