Barista

Job Description & Requirements

We are looking for baristas to greet guests, take orders prepare and serve hot and cold beverages with guests' preference in mind.

The barista's responsibilities include educating customers on our menu, making recommendations based on their preferences, up-selling special items, taking orders and/or assisting guests in placing orders through the QR code. To be successful in this role, you should have customer service skills and knowledge of how brewing equipment operates. Prior work experience in cafes and restaurants are greatly appreciated. Available to work during opening and/or closing hours, including weekends and holidays. 5 day work week.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Greet customers as they enter
  • Guide guests on menus and answer their questions regarding ingredients
  • Take orders while paying attention to details (dietary requirements)
  • Prepare beverages following recipes
  • Receive and process payments
  • Keep the bar area clean
  • Maintain stock of clean tableware and glassware
  • Clean brewing equipment as required
  • Check if brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs
  • Comply with health and safety regulations
  • Communicate customer feedback to operations manager
  • Assist customers with store merchandise when necessary
  • Inform operations manager when bar stocks are low

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Previous work experience as a barista or waiter/waitress
  • Hands-on experience with brewing equipment
  • Knowledge of sanitation regulations
  • Understand basic dietary requirements
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • An understanding of food and beverage operations
  • Able to handle multiple roles within the cafe including cashier
  • Able to work days, evenings, and weekends as necessary

Qualifications

  • Diploma
  • Food safety and handling certified (preferred)
  • Experience working as barista / waiter / waitress
