The role sits within the Compliance, Financial Crime (CFCR), and Conduct Risk team, specifically supporting the Corporate & Investment Banking businesses. The team is part of the global advisory team working with Business, COO, and Risk stakeholders and supports the strategy and direction of the CFCR department, providing oversight and challenge of the CIB businesses, and providing support for ongoing risk assessment and Non-Financial Risk management. The role primarily works with the advisory teams on Policy and Standard implementations and effectiveness with our first line stakeholder. It also supports the second line Risk Owners in overseeing their defined areas of responsibility across CIB and supports remediation efforts to ensure CIB remains within risk tolerance.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Head, CFCR Advisory, FM, Operations Controls to work on CIB CFCR initiatives to support governance alignment, control enhancement, regulatory change management, and management information & reporting analytics.
In Addition, The Role Holder Will Be Responsible For
  • Overseeing the CFCR Non-Financial Risk strategy and agenda.
  • Supporting Pan CIB business changes and identifying and implementing requirements for relevant CIB business to comply with global regulations.
  • Providing leadership and daily oversight for the team on a day-to-day basis.
  • Driving changes within the CIB business to strengthen framework management, including governance frameworks, policies, processes, and control design to minimize compliance and regulatory risk, including implementation of the bank’s risk management frameworks and appropriate oversight of control processes.
  • Planning and participating in RSCA, policy reviews, regional initiatives, Compliance Risk Assessments, and other central Compliance initiatives to ensure best practices are adopted where applicable and enhance overall standards.

Strategy

Support and implement the vision, strategy, direction and leadership for CIB CFCR, aligned with the broader CFCR and Group strategy.

Business
  • Understand the business model and strategy to provide oversight support and challenge for sustainable CFCR outcomes.
  • Maintain relationships with key business and functional stakeholders, providing timely CFCR advice to enable strategic objectives.
  • Provide analysis and challenge on product design, new business initiatives, projects, remedial activities, and CFCR guidance.
  • Offer robust challenge to senior management when activities exceed risk tolerance, escalating as needed until appropriate oversight is achieved.
  • Work with business and operational teams to ensure compliance with laws and regulations and support proactive CFCR risk mitigation.
Processes
  • Act under delegation from Risk Framework Owners for principal CFCR risk types in discharging ERMF responsibilities where CFCR advisory is the appropriate second line risk owner.
People & Talent
  • Lead by example and promote a culture of openness, trust and risk awareness.
  • Encourage forward planning, prioritisation and efficient workflows; foster collaboration and inclusivity.
  • Provide feedback related to CFCR matters influencing remuneration where appropriate.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing across the CFCR network on regulatory risks and compliance with relevant policies and standards.
Risk Management
  • Act as second line Risk Owner for appropriate CIB processes under the Group’s ERMF.
  • Collaborate with Product CFCR teams to anticipate horizon risks and develop mitigation strategies, including global standards for conduct of business.
  • Manage CFCR advisory matters and regulatory issues with significant impact, including conflicts of interest, cross-border, data conduct, and onshore/offshore support and control.
  • Support a programme for conduct, financial crime surveillance and assurance for the relevant CIB business.
  • Inform senior management and regulators of serious regulatory breaches and take timely remediation actions.
  • Coordinate with Shared Investigation Services and liaise with Internal Audit to follow up on CFCR weaknesses and ensure remediation where relevant.
  • Provide reports to risk and control committees on key CFCR risks and issues; maintain MI and risk trackers across all coverage areas.
  • Advise on CFCR risk management frameworks and maintain oversight of risk acceptance and mitigation actions.
  • Provide intelligence on clients and risk typologies and support calibration of bank risk methodologies.
Governance
  • Coordinate CFCR governance meetings, prepare materials and track actions and risk mitigations.
  • Propose improvements to control effectiveness and efficiency; support audit, assurance and regulatory reviews and remediation tracking.
  • Communicate policy changes across relevant teams; maintain a risk-based CFCR framework within the Group ERMF.
Regulatory & Business Conduct
  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Escalate and resolve risk and CFCR matters; respond to regulatory questions; ensure compliance with laws, regulations, guidelines and Group Code of Conduct.
Project/Change Management
  • Participate in change programmes for the relevant CIB business, define change requirements, and strengthen controls and compliance.
  • Support execution of change initiatives and track regulatory developments; maintain detailed project plans for governance and management reporting.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • 10+ years experience in a financial services setup specifically in non-financial risk management
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accountancy or a related field
