An exciting opportunity has opened for a Careers Counsellor at the Australian International School If you are passionate about making a positive impact and are driven by growth and development, this role is perfect for you

Position Requirements:
  1. A minimum four year recognised teaching qualification including a Bachelor’s Degree and Teaching Diploma or a Bachelor of Education. EAL Qualifications in addition to Degree qualifications would be an advantage.
  2. A minimum of 3 years FT teaching experience in a recognised educational institution.
  3. Experience teaching EAL in a School with an established English as a Second Language Department would be an advantage.
  4. Excellent communication, information technology, multi-tasking and time management skills.
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  6. Strong organisational ability and the ability to meet deadlines.
  7. Experience in university/college admissions around the world, or high school college counseling is preferred. Understanding of the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBDP) and Higher School Certificate (HSC) preferred.
  8. Strong interpersonal communication.
  9. Familiarity with the goals, objectives, and mission of an independent college preparatory school.
  10. Ability to respond effectively to the needs of a diverse and demanding student and parent population.
  11. Knowledge of universities/colleges, their academic programs, admission policies, financial policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required.
  2. Master’s degree in the relevant field preferred.
  3. At least three years’ experience in an international environment required.
  4. Minimum 3 years in an Academic and College Counselling role required.
  5. Experience advising students on Australian pathways.
  6. Experience advising students with UCAS and the CommonApp.
  7. Experience advising students to various countries around the world.
  8. Experience advising students with scholarships.
  9. Experience with accommodation applications.
