Overview

Executive Director, Head of Transaction Banking Business Architect, APAC role at SMBC Group. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced TB Business Architect to accelerate transaction banking development. Transaction Banking is a strategic priority for SMBC Group, and this role will lead the team to translate TB strategies into actionable frameworks, roadmaps, and TB capability architecture to enhance TB product development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Alignment: Collaborate with executives and stakeholders to understand business goals and strategies; translate business strategies into actionable frameworks and roadmaps.
  • Functional Architecture: Create and own the functional architecture blueprint; define and maintain business capabilities; develop capability maps; identify sourcing options (build, buy, rent); create/update initiative roadmaps; map systems to capabilities; align with regional and global teams; create/front-to-back process maps to drive efficiency; work with UX teams to deliver omni-channel experiences.
  • Data Monetization: Design functional designs to unlock data across the WB Value chain; identify and design for adoption of agentic use cases.
  • Process Optimization: Analyze and improve business processes to enhance efficiency; identify gaps and propose solutions.
  • Enterprise Architecture Integration: Ensure alignment between business and technology strategies; provide input on technology solutions.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as liaison between business units, IT, and other stakeholders; facilitate workshops to gather requirements and align priorities.
  • Change Management: Support organizational change initiatives and advise on impact to operations.
  • Performance Metrics: Define and monitor KPIs; report on business performance and suggest improvements.
  • Risk Management: Identify risks and develop mitigation plans.
  • Team Building and Management: Build and lead a high-performing team of domain experts, fostering a culture of innovation, compliance, and best practices.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong business skills across WB domains (Cash, Trade, Treasury)
  • Deep technical know-how of latest technologies (Cloud, Data)
  • Strong understanding of business strategy, operations, and enterprise architecture
  • Knowledge of business modeling frameworks and tools (e.g., TOGAF, BPMN)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to diverse audiences
  • Experience with business modeling tools and techniques
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or a related field (preferred)
  • Familiarity with industry trends and best practices
