Project Planner/Sr Project Planner

ROLE The Senior Project Planner collaborates with architects, landscape architects, consultants, and other project members to plan, design, coordinate, and present ideas for diverse resort, residential, urban planning, and design projects. Depending on the project size and scope, the Senior Project Planner may work closely with a designated Project Manager or act as the Project Manager to drive the delivery of the project on budget and within established schedules. The position reports to the Studio Director or Managing Principal.RESPONSIBILITIES • Manages the projects within established schedules and budgets to ensure profitability and the efficient utilization of resources• Interfaces with clients, sub-consultants, and other professionals during all phases of complex and multi-disciplinary projects to ensure a coordinated, cohesive, and informed engagement and appropriate guidance and response to project requirements• Leads presentations, project coordination, and client communications, preparing planning-related graphics for project reports and meetings• Creates integrated, sustainable, and equitable solutions to complex land planning problems, leading and managing project activities and supervising team members assigned to the project regarding scope performance and the production of project deliverables• Provides design and production leadership on all phases of a project• Manages internal teams, consultants, local planners, and other specialists or subconsultants• Assures the project conforms to WATG's QC process and delivery standards (ISO) and develops contractual client agreements and understands liabilities related to planner/owner projects, including fee calculations• Implements processes to reduce project risks and exposure• Conducts research and data analysis, including master plan level programming and space planning studies• Demonstrates design competency and creativity in producing design sketches, site planning, analysis diagrams, site sections, footprint layouts, 3D models, and presentations for master planning projects• Provides own expertise in writing and compiling a variety of document types, including planning reports, technical memoranda, design narratives, project approaches, and design guidelinesEXPECTATIONS OF THE ROLE • Communicates design ideas verbally and graphically using well-developed interpersonal, analytical, graphical and communication skills• Effectively manages multiple priorities across complex projects• Team leader who manages an efficient project team with a focus on achieving commitments and extraordinary outcomes• Speaks and presents in a group setting in a convincing, articulate, and professional manner that reflects expertise• Maintains a positive team atmosphere, and regularly mentors project team members• Travel required for site visits and workshopsREQUIREMENTS • Bachelor's degree in urban planning, urban design, landscape architecture, or related field• Registered professional in planning or landscape architecture preferred• Environmental accreditation preferred• 15+ years of experience in design / master planning experiences for multiple project types and regions. ( APAC, MENA)• Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp• Proficiency in ArcGIS / Rhino / computational design is an advantage.• Extensive land planning experience, including project management, graphic communication, land-use zoning, and client relationships• Excellent graphic skills, including hand-sketch ability, visualization renderings, plans, and document layout• Working knowledge of sustainable design and planning• Proven project leadership, project management, and resource coordination, with the ability to effectively work in a team environment• Meets project requirements, managing multiple priorities within established schedules and budgets• Excellent written and verbal communication and client presentation skills• Travel may be required
