Our facility in Singapore has key functions in research and development, procurement, sales and finance for our Lighting and Detection business lines, in addition to key functions related to our Optics Manufacturing capabilities.
This site produces optical lenses such as spherical, aspherical and plano optics, with large machine shop capabilities and expertise in optical coating and assembly. Our photonic products and solutions serve a wide range of markets and applications in the areas of medicine, life science, industrial manufacturing, defense, and aerospace, as well as research and development.
We are presently seeking a Senior Assembly Engineer that responsible for driving high-performance team development and leading critical projects to ensure successful delivery within budget and schedule.
Main Responsibilities

• Mentor and develop the team to achieve high performance and continuous improvement in laser/fiber assembly processes.
• Champion continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Six Sigma methodologies (Black Belt preferred).
• Plan and manage projects to meet budgetary and schedule targets.
• Oversee task planning, prioritize critical activities, and ensure smooth daily operations.
• Implement engineering controls and training to achieve a zero-incident safety culture, including laser safety risk assessments and audits.
• Own the product lifecycle, including RFQ management in collaboration with Sales, Marketing, and Operations to meet customer requirements.
• Ensure timely closure of RFQs by tracking and reporting Turnaround Time (TAT).
• Lead and ensure successful execution of FAT (Factory Acceptance Test), FLP (First Lot Production), and FAI (First Article Inspection) to meet customer requirements.
• Lead customer communications during escalations and provide progress updates to management.
• Ensure operational readiness and successful handover of projects.
• Collaborate with Design Engineering to develop manufacturable and high-quality product designs.
• Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to maximize product quality and yield.
• Lead testing strategy, process development, and design reviews for new products.
• Prepare and document processes for production transfer; lead risk assessments and tooling development.
• Implement process controls, support technician training, and resolve technical issues using SPC, 8D, FMEA, and DOE methodologies.
• Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance yield, improve efficiency, and reduce waste.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in measurement systems and manage the team to drive operational excellence.
  

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Optical, Materials, Mechanical, or Precision Engineering, Physics, or Chemistry; or a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
• Proven leadership experience in optical, laser, or fiber product development or manufacturing in a cleanroom environment.
• Demonstrated success in process improvement projects utilizing DOE, 8D, and Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
• Hands-on experience with Design for Manufacturability (DFM), new product introduction (NPI), and process development.
• Experience commissioning test and measurement systems for laser/fiber assembly products.
• Proficient in implementing and maintaining process controls and quality assurance systems.
• Practical knowledge of root cause analysis, 8D problem-solving, and conducting Design of Experiments (DOE).
• Experienced in customer interfacing, managing escalations, and leading technical discussions.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and AS9100 standards.
• Knowledge of new part number generation processes and engineering change control systems.
