What You Will Be Working On We are looking for someone who is creative, curious, collaborative and enjoys challenges. If you like to design, build and deploy scalable solutions using operations research and/or AI to address complex planning problems for the Home Team, we want you Successful candidate’s primary job role would be in operations research with focus in Optimization techniques, there will also be opportunity for job holder to gain exposure to other related work. We believe in upskilling our officers and exposing them to work spanning from end-to-end of the solution. Working in a Data Science team with other stakeholders to identify, scope, develop, and implement data science and AI solutions to address users’ needs. Applying operations research techniques (mathematical programming such as linear programming, mixed integer programming, and constraint programming) and/or data science (AI, machine learning, deep learning, and data analytics) to address the diverse business needs for MHA. Learning and deep diving into the above techniques through research. Collaborate closely with business users to extract actionable insights from data and processes and develop data-driven & optimised solutions to meet their needs. Present analytical insights to business users and stakeholders. Manage large scale and complex projects which may be developed in-house or co-developed with external or consultancy agencies and/or academic institutions. What We Are Looking For Candidates should possess at least a bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline: Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or Operations Research or related disciplines. Candidates must be good problem solvers with strong analytical and mathematical skills. Background in operations research, particularly knowledge in linear programming, mixed integer programming, constraint programming, evolutionary algorithm, heuristic search, statistics and data analysis is required. Familiarity in mathematical programming tools such as IBM CPLEX, Gurobi, OR-Tools is advantageous. Experience in SQL or handling of data (merging data and data transformation) or user interface development and proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, Java and C/C++/C# is advantageous. Personal Characteristics & Behaviours Good critical thinking, data analysis, and problem‑solving skills. Good written and verbal communication skills to communicate technical aspects effectively to non‑technical audience. Good interpersonal and stakeholder management skills to work under tight timelines. Good working attitude and able to work effectively as part of a team. All new hires are appointed on a two‑year contract in the first instance and will be assessed and considered for permanent tenure over time, based on performance.
