Job Purpose
To provide high-quality, person-centered physiotherapy services to adult residents with disabilities in a residential care setting, focusing on enhancing mobility, functional independence, and overall quality of life.
The Physiotherapist/Senior Physiotherapist will assess, plan, and implement individualized treatment programs tailored to the diverse needs of residents. Reporting to the Head of Home, the role also involves working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, supporting staff training and development, and contributing to the ongoing improvement of care practices within the home. He or she will additionally provide clinical leadership and supervision to junior team member in the therapy department.
Job Responsibilities
Clinical Care
Conduct comprehensive physiotherapy assessments of residents with disabilities to determine therapy needs and functional goals.
Develop, implement, and regularly review individualized physiotherapy treatment plans to enhance mobility, physical function, and independence.
Provide therapeutic interventions such as exercise programs, mobility training, and pain management tailored to residents' abilities.
Monitor resident progress and adjust treatment plans based on clinical evaluation and outcomes.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration
Collaborate with nursing, occupational therapy, medical, and care staff to deliver coordinated, holistic care for residents.
Participate in care reviews, family conferences, and case discussions to provide professional input on physical function and rehabilitation goals.
Educate care staff on safe handling techniques and support implementation of therapy strategies in daily routines.
Resident Engagement & Advocacy
Promote resident participation in physiotherapy activities and encourage independence in daily living skills.
Provide support and education to residents and families on physical health, function, and the use of assistive devices.
Leadership & Supervision (for Senior Physiotherapist)
Provide clinical guidance and supervision to junior physiotherapists and therapy assistants.
Lead case discussions, clinical audits, and best practice sharing within the therapy team.
Mentor and assess physiotherapy students during clinical placements.
Allied Health Coordination
Oversee and coordinate the services provided by locum physiotherapists and other externally contracted allied health professionals (e.g., speech therapists, occupational therapists).
Liaise with external service providers to ensure alignment of care standards and continuity of therapy interventions.
Monitor the performance and quality of outsourced services, providing feedback and reporting concerns to the Head of Home.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records, assessment reports, treatment notes, and progress reviews.
Prepare reports for internal audits, care meetings, and management reviews as required by the Head of Home.
Administrative & Compliance
Ensure compliance with professional and regulatory standards, infection control, and safety policies.
Maintain therapy equipment and ensure therapy areas meet safety and functional standards.
Engage in ongoing professional development to keep up to date with evidence-based practice and maintain licensure.
Any Other Duties
Assist in providing orientation and guidance for new staff to ensure they understand physiotherapy protocols, safety procedures, and care practices within the home.
Perform first aid duties in the event of an emergency or when required, in accordance with the home's emergency response procedures and training guidelines.
Support the Head of Home and care team in any other assigned tasks related to resident care, health promotion, or operational needs, within the scope of professional practice.
Job Specifications
Qualifications and Experience
Degree in Physiotherapy or its equivalent (recognized by the Allied Health Professional Council in Singapore)
Applicants for the position of Senior Physiotherapist should have at least 5 years of relevant working experience
Experience in Management and multi-agency collaboration will be an advantage for Senior Physiotherapist position.
Desired Behavior

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with residents, families and multidisciplinary teams.
Physically able to assist residents with mobility tasks and therapeutic exercises.
