Overview Provision of care for patients undergoing radiation treatment and takes up clinical responsibilities while keeping with functional duties within the centre. Responsibilities Provides good practical skills and leads a team of patient care assistants and health attendants in the area assigned. Provides good individual patient care and services with regards to specific nursing competencies such as dressings and cannulation. Briefs patients prior to all radiation therapy procedures (consultation, CT simulation, radiation therapy treatment and post-treatment). Provides timely nursing advice to patients and family members. Assists radiation oncologists in consultations and is competent in necessary procedures. Offers good teamwork as part of a radiotherapy team to deliver safe and accurate support of treatment to patients within the radiotherapy department. Maintains and upkeeps equipment and supplies (emergency trolley, oxygen cylinders, surgical supplies, stationery and blankets). Ensures high‑alert medications are properly stocked and stored. Maintains cleanliness of consultation rooms and work areas. Handles waste disposal (sharps, biohazard waste and general waste). Contributes actively to the improvement and upgrading of holistic treatment care. Comfortable working with pediatric and elderly patients. Skilled in IV cannulation, blood draw and sedation. General Liaises with department manager, radiation oncologists, therapists and other relevant staff to facilitate ongoing departmental processes such as patient scheduling and inpatient status. Manages and keeps track of patients’ laboratory and imaging study results. Provides proper guidance to junior personnel assigned. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors and/or senior management. Participates in continuing education and department improvement activities. Adheres to the Code of Practice with regards to Nursing Board at all times. Job Requirements Staff Nurse: Degree or Diploma in Nursing or equivalent, with minimum 2 years of oncology nursing experience preferred.
