Responsibilities The Category Buyer (CB) supports one or several procurement categories and works in close relation with Global Category Managers (GCM), the Categories Team Leader (CTL), the Category Manager (CM) and the Tactical Buyer (TB). Manage the end-to-end acquisition process, including RFI and/or RFPs up to PVet 4 (up to PVet 5 in some Regions) to provide competitiveness to the business. Lead supplier selection exercises to support business needs and ensure deployment, implementation and monitoring of agreed category strategies. Ensure supplier relationship management and continuous improvement of suppliers within the category, with support from the Supplier Performance Management Team as needed, including quality, cost, delivery, contractual performance and innovation. Identify and implement supplier base changes to support business winning capability and competitiveness. Operational Support: ensure buyers receive all required information to raise Procurement Orders. Procurement Competitiveness Capture: monitor markets for defined categories, gather insights to develop up-to-date category strategies, and advise on competitive supply options. Governance, Leadership and Performance Management: apply governance using KPIs and root cause corrective actions. Supplier / Acquisition Management: manage supplier performance against standards, ensure competitions follow governance, adopt global contracts/framework agreements, utilize Thales e-Acquisition and procurement tools, and support supplier development actions. Qualifications Recognized professional qualification (CIPS, EIPM, ISM, MAI, etc.) desirable Business, Procurement, Supply Chain or Engineering degrees desirable Experience in project/program, design/product development with cross-functional teams IS/IT Category experience is preferred Experience in negotiation projects and/or categories desirable Ability to implement operational supply chain strategy Contractual knowledge, especially of framework agreements, liability and insurance Ability to lead negotiations including import/export considerations Understanding of market dynamics for controlled categories and customer/program needs Knowledge of best-practice acquisition processes Ability to work in cross-functional, international multi-organisational teams Open minded, able to bring added value and new ideas Ability to take initiative with analytical and synthesis skills Ability to prioritize tasks and represent Thales values Good written and verbal communication skills At Thales, we’re committed to fostering a workplace where respect, trust, collaboration, and passion drive everything we do.
