MUFG is seeking a Vice President, Credit Management, Fund Finance. This role is with Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG), a leading global financial group.

Overview

This is a high-responsibility role requiring a high-calibre professional who can operate with minimal supervision and has potential for progression within the organisation. The role involves working with a portfolio of Bank clients, evaluating credits, and guiding risk assessment, due diligence, structuring, financial modelling, and risk mitigation in collaboration with multiple Business areas and support functions.

Job Responsibilities

• Evaluate credit applications, internal ratings, and transaction proposals for new or existing Institutional Investor clients in A&O. Review transaction material, challenge assumptions as appropriate, and provide guidance on policy and risk appetite.
• Engage with the Business to discuss and influence transaction structures and facility terms to mitigate risk; provide solutions and value through due diligence and risk guidance.
• Engage early with potential transactions, form views, and present to ICD senior management. Attend deal screening committees and communicate credit views and challenges.
• Present transactions concisely to senior Business and ICD management locally and overseas with deep knowledge of the client, transaction, and risks & mitigants.
• Articulate whether a client and proposal is bankable; provide alternatives and risk-mitigating solutions when not.
• Support, coach, and mentor ICD team colleagues to foster a strong, collaborative environment.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across divisions and jurisdictions, attending meetings on transactions and providing guidance on risk appetite.
• Involve in term sheet, loan documentation, and ISDA/CSA reviews; influence content and credit terms to ensure alignment with risk and commercial goals.
• Monitor allocated portfolio from client, sector, and country perspectives; identify issues and formulate mitigating actions with relevant stakeholders.
• Support new initiatives by providing risk-focused guidance; contribute to credit and policy guidelines and change initiatives to drive efficiencies.
• Participate in various initiatives and projects including policy changes, liaising with stakeholders regionally and at Tokyo Head Office.

Job Requirements

• Minimum 7 years of financial sector experience, including 4 years of Asset Manager and Fund Finance portfolio coverage experience.
• Experience in analysis and documentation of Subscription, NAV finance transactions and traded products across Institutional Investor clients such as Asset Managers, Private Equity, Pension and Sovereign Wealth Funds, across Asia or Oceania.
• Experience in credit assessment of Equity Margin Lending and Secured Asset Financing transactions.
• Strong understanding of sector risk dynamics, regulatory landscape, and ability to apply this in counterparty risk analysis.
• Proven ability to work with Business partners, provide early risk guidance, and influence structuring and risk issues.
• Contributions beyond business-as-usual credit risk management, including portfolio risk reporting and policy improvements.
• Strong academic record (graduate or postgraduate).
• Excellent written and verbal communication tailored to diverse audiences; confident stakeholder engagement.
• Deep analytical thinking with practical risk mitigation solutions.
• Ability to make clear recommendations balancing risk and commercial considerations.
• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and judgment; precise attention to detail and numerical skills.
• Market awareness and ability to adapt to external trends.
• Decisive yet collaborative; escalate risk with remediation plans; forward-looking risk issue analysis.
• Results-driven with accountability; strong team player mindset focused on delivering business results.
